CCP opens studio in Newcastle

Dust 514

EVE Online developer CCP has confirmed to GI it has opened a new studio in Newcastle.

Right now, the company is hiring for a 10-20 positions, including engineer roles, at the studio in Gateshead. It’ll work closely with the firm’s Shanghai and Reykjavik studios on “current and future” projects.

The company recently announced it had hired a couple of ex-staff from the now defunct Midway Newcastle, who worked on The Wheelman and a project known as Necessary Force, which was canned after the studio was shut.

CCP is currently working on shooter Dust 514 for next-gen consoles, which is tied into the firm’s MMO EVE Online.

No date has been announced for it yet.

“next-gen consoles”? With all the news of people saying there are no “next-gen consoles” – I assume you are meaning that Dust 514 is for current-gen consoles?
