Monster Hunter tri’s online play will be free in the UK and Europe, Nintendo has confirmed.

The firm also said today that the Capcom RPG will be WiiSpeak compatible, and will release in a bundle with the peripheral and a classic controller.

Europe is to have dedicated servers.

Nintendo of America said last night it would also be free to play online in the US when it releases there on April 20.

Since its release in Japan last year, it has been running on a pay-to-play system.

Monster Hunter tri got a release date of April 23 earlier this morning at Nintendo’s European Media Summit.

Nice Nintendo. Now if the game is good like the psp version then I will buy it.

Makes sense, they have a hard enough time selling Monster Hunter outside of Japan as it is. Making it pay-to-play would’ve made it practically impossible.

It’s not as if they will have to pay for any massive traffic is it?

I read that it’s coming with a bundle with a pro pad and wii speak. Basically, everything I asked for when I first heard about it has been done and I shall be buying this as soon as I can :)

It was good fun at the EG Expo too.

oooo that bodes well for the 360 version, if it comes to Europe

No it dosnt. Frontier is an MMO, Tri isnt. No matter what, Frontier will always need a sub.

Also worth noting is that the original Monster Hunter was pay-to-play in Japan but not in Europe and the US.
