Eurogamer and print publisher SkyJack have launched Megaton, a web- and paper-based partnership aimed at 8-12 year-old children.

Megaton magazine goes on sale today. The website’s in beta at the moment, and will properly launch on March 25, “utilising much of the magazine’s content but also creating additional online editorial and advertising solutions,” according to an EG press release this morning.

Ex-pr person extraordinaire Cat Channon’s publishing the site.

“With over 4.9 million young gamers online every day the potential audience for Megaton.co.uk is massive, particularly given that over three million of them are online for over three hours every day,” she said of the launch.

“They are surprising stats when you look at all the other factors – eating, sleeping, school, playing sports, arguing with the folks, TV – which take up such large chunks of your average kid’s day. The audience exists and its appetite for online content is insatiable. We’re excited about addressing it.”

Grats to all. Hit the link and take a look.

Your chances are ruined, because i just entered. Despite not being a UK resident. And not asking for “Permission from a parent or guardian” as rule 7 states. :D

Heh, I thought the only things usually aimed at 8 – 12 year olds is my penis… I mean junk food! Junk food!

Sorry, must’ve been a Freudian blow-job… slip! I mean slip!

Headline should have been “MEGATON – Megaton launches…”

A missed opportunity me thinks.
