Molyneux: Milo plays a bigger role in “a more dramatic story”

Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has revealed there might just be more to Milo & Kate than first imagined.

The creative director of Microsoft Games Studios Europe told IncGamers the poster child of Project Natal’s reveal at E3 last June will play a part in “a bigger and more dramatic story”.

“I was very, very tight about what was actually being said about Milo and not being said about Milo. I think it did its job,” he said.

“It made people look around and say ‘How could you make a game out of a character like Milo?’ And I think that question is still out there; I’m just not allowed to answer it.

“I might hint… Milo is a character in a bigger and more dramatic story that we’re telling,” he further added.

Not much has been said of Milo and Kate since its reveal at E3. Molyneux confirmed at Microsoft’s press conference at gamescom last August it was still in development.

And in October, a video of a demo of the title was put online during a BAFTA session Molyneux did at the time.

Since then, nothing has been heard of it; until now.

    is it a romantic story?

i reckon there would be quite a market for a child grooming sim

Maybe it’s a murder mystery? That WASP-house in the background clearly hides a dungeon of horror.

Ahhh Molyneux. Are you issuing hyperbole again.

I reckon Milo is being abused. He has lifeless eyes.

Milo – isn’t that an Austrian name?

“A more dramatic story”: Is it the story of the relationship between a young boy and a much, much older man?

    Their answer to Heavy Rain.

Involving Natal, this kid, and maybe a murder or two.

    I called it first.

‘Let’s go Shopping with Milo’: Take a stroll into town with Milo and visit the local toy shop. Events take a dramatic turn for the worse as you both realise you don’t have enough money to buy the object of Milo’s dreams, a model train.

Will you try stealing the item from old Mr Brimble’s shop? Try and raise the money by way of good deeds? Pimp yourselves to the locals of The Nonce & Rat? Or set fire to the shop, town and all in a defiant display of rage against the unfairness of the world? The outcome is up to you …and Milo!

“Because its the comments thread, and people like to bitch and whine like know-it-alls about things taken completely out of context, as if it was some giant statement shouted from the roof-tops” well, close enough. :p

I fail to see how that is even remotely similar to be disgusted by people making jokes about paedophilia and child abuse. If someone can even joke about that stuff, it says everything about them.

It was more that on just the previous story you’d taken one stance, then adopted a completely opposite one for this. You could argue that the posters above caused you to respond to their sensationalist, almost certainly (i hope) intended in jest, comments.
Besides which, no-one has the slightest idea what the game actually is, so why not just let the speculation run anyway?

The fact that they were intended it in jest only makes them even worse. FPS games are not quite the same thing as the topics I just pointed out.

If you’re keen to express your opinions on that, there are certainly more appropriate forums. If you’d like to discuss your opinion of what the game being mentioned in the article might be – then, I’d imagine that those boards would have less time for that, so why not do so here?

    Dramatic story?
Like the time when Milo got his trainers thrown over a power line?
Or when Kate lost a nail?
Then there was the time they played Hide the Sausage together.
