SCEE: Motorstorm 3 domain “should not be interpreted as an announcement”

motorstormpacificrift

SCEE’s just given VG247 a statement on its recent Motorstorm 3 domain registration , saying it “should not be interpreted as an announcement.”

A WhoIs filing has linked “Motorstorm3.com” to the company’s HQ in London.

“It’s not uncommon for us to secure the URLs containing the names of our successful IP, and those actions should not be interpreted as an announcement of a new title in a franchise,” a rep from Sony told us today.

PSP spin-off Arctic Edge aside, there hasn’t been a fully-fledged PS3 sequel in the series since the release of Pacific Rift in late 2008.

E3, please.

I don’t think it’s a particularly odd response, it’s basically just another way of saying, “SCEE does not comment on rumour or speculation.”

If Microsoft secured halo4.com tomorrow they wouldn’t want you to take that as an announcement either, even if the game is an inevitability.

Sony doesn’t have the full rights to the WRC anymore.

Okay, let me rephrase that:

Sony doesn’t exclusively have the full rights to the WRC.

have everyone forgot about WRC?

Black Bean Games are making an official WRC game. Supposed to be released at the end of this year. I hope it turns out good. :)

Would it even be compareable? A WRC game would probably be closer to a sim, the MotorStorm games are pure arcade through and through.

I hope that’s the way its going to be. And it better not be a watered down version ala Dirt.
There is enough space for Motorstorm, whatever half-arsed attempt at rally Polyphony comes up with and a proper rally game. I would buy them all. :)
