Remedy’s Head of Franchise, Oskari Hakkinen, has told VG247 that Alan Wake’s ending will get a “conclusive ending”, as promised, but will also “leave doors open” for the sequel.

Speaking at an event for the game in London this week, the exec said:

“You want to think of this as Season 1, so to speak, of a TV series. This will have a satisfactory and conclusive ending, but we will leave doors open, just as they do in Lost or 24, where they have a satisfactory ending to the season but they leave some doors open for the larger story.

“Just the same here. We’ll have the satisfactory and conclusive ending, and should this be successful then we will do Season 2.”

He also promised that the DLC released for the game would bridge the gap between the thriller’s first series and its potential second season – something that has been done recently with prequels on the TV show 24.

“You should think of the DLC as more of a bridge between Season 1 and Season 2,” he said. “Specials, if you like. So, like Friends has a Christmas special, and the Easter special, so to speak.”

Back at CES in January, Microsoft’s Head of Devices Robbie Bach confirmed new episodes as DLC would release post-launch for the game. No more information was given then that.

Alan Wake releases on May 18 in the US and May 21 in the UK for Xbox 360. Get our full interview with Oskari Hakkinen here.
