Sonic Team not developing Sonic 4

If a listing from Live Marketplace online in the US is right, it confirms that Sega isn’t developing Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Specifically, instead of Sonic Team making the game, development duties have gone to Sonic Rush makers Dimps.
We’ll ship an email off to Sega to confirm if that’s the case.
Last night, the first proper gameplay footage was leaked, and it’s looking good, Radioheads.
Episode I in a four episode arc will release this summer for PSN, Xbox Live and WiiWare.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Given the last gazillion Sonic games this is probably a ‘good thing’.

This is probably a very good thing.

And also a little sad. The only way to make a good Sonic game is to make sure Sega has as little as possible to do with it.

Dimps are almost certainly better these days than Sonic Team anyway – I’d suggest that’s good news.
Last decent Sonic Team game was probably Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg.

true, BHATGE’s mltiplayer was amazing. Like Pokemon meets those giants balls in gladiators.

It is very sad to say it, but this is probably good news for the project.
The last Sonic Team games were pretty bad, seems like their glory days died with the Dreamcast.

And yet on the leaked gameplay had the Sonic Team intro logo and no other devs were mentioned?

Sega probably let Sonic Team make the logo so they didn’t feel left out.

Jim Sterling over at Destructoid seemed pretty happy to hear this. Enough to write a friggin’ article based only on “YAY Dimps; Boo Sonic Team”.
Lets see what happens. I’ve never been a Sonic fan (little fucker keeps loosing my hard earned rings!) so I’ll be watching all of this from the side lines.
