Crackdown 2 release date is not June 11, says Microsoft [Update]

Crackdown 22

Update: Or it is out on June 11. Videogamer’s updated its article with a screencap of what looks like the Xbox website, showing the date and pre-order incentives of exclusive Agency armour.

Back to the Batphone with Microsoft, then.

Update 2: Microsoft has again reiterated the statement given to us, further adding the page that mentions the date on the Xbox website “was inaccurately updated and the team are working on rectifying this.”

Original Story: Microsoft has confirmed to VG247 the June 11 release date apparently given by the firm for Crackdown 2 is “incorrect”.

According to a report from Videogamer, the date was set in stone for the UK. But the firm insists that ain’t the case.

“I can confirm the article is incorrect and the game is schedule for “later this year”,” an MS rep told us.

The company did say in its NPD response last week it would release in June 2010. It soon retracted the date, however, saying it was listed “incorrectly”.

So whens the next conference where they can announce that they release it on June 11?

GDC.

Unless the date is after June 11, they can’t announce it at E3. It takes place days after its release.

@1: they should just put their hands up and be done with it. Catching them out, banged to rights on a double negative! LOL :D

@4

Release date announcements aren’t exclusive to conferences.

But they are the most effective dates, I would think.

I figure a simple press release will suffice.

I’m looking forward to the game but it’s not a massive release.

I hadn’t realised quite how excited I was for this until I listened to the interview with the Ruffian guys on this week’s 1Up podcast. I feel a sudden urge to go and find the remaining 10 agility orbs in the first one now.
