Eurogamer Network UU figure up 22% to 4.5 million

eurogamer

Eurogamer's announced a climb in November unique users to 4.5 million across its European network, a rise from 3.7 million in November 2008.

“In a year where the whole world seems to be talking about downsizing it’s great to be able to illustrate consistent growth across the board” said EG MD Rupert Loman.

“We’re very pleased with the results and they reflect the end to another very positive year for the network.”

It's unknown if the firm's flagship site, Eurogamer.net, grew compared to the year previous, as there's no figure mentioned in the press release. Loman said after the November 2008 audit that "the UK site increased significantly to 2.3 million unique users during the month".

Growing Eurogamer Network ABCE Numbers Show Continuing Rise In Site Popularity
Brighton, England, 12th February 2010. Eurogamer, Europe’s leading independent games media specialist, is pleased to announce this year’s ABCE Audit figures. During the last audit a whopping 4,533,609 unique users tuned in to get their gaming fix across the Eurogamer Network proving that once again gamers love Eurogamer as much as Eurogamer loves games.

Gaming fans have been clicking by the millions in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and many other territories to get their daily fix of news, reviews features and the behind the scenes games industry low down. In total, over 35 million pages of content were viewed during the month.

The increase in numbers coincides with a general growth trend across the company. 2009 saw the launch of the Get Games digital download service and the Eurogamer iPhone app, in addition to changes in the trade site Gamesindustry.biz as it moved to a trade-only focus. The company also announced the appointment of several high profile industry players. The Eurogamer Expo, the UK’s biggest videogaming event was also a big hit last year with 14,000 attendees gagging to get their gaming mitts on the latest and greatest videogames at the show.

“In a year where the whole world seems to be talking about downsizing it’s great to be able to illustrate consistent growth across the board” said Rupert Loman, Managing Director at Eurogamer. “We’re very pleased with the results and they reflect the end to another very positive year for the network.”

The impressive numbers kick off what’s set to be another big year with the upcoming launch of a brand new website later next month, an expanded Eurogamer Expo set for later this year as well as further geographical expansion for the Eurogamer website.
