January NPD: US trade down 13% to $1.17 billion

The American games trade has yet again been unable to find growth in its monthly figures, with sales down $170 million year-on-year for January.
Hardware was down 21 percent for the month, from $446.8 million in 2009 to $353.7 this year.
Software fared a little better, scoring $597.9 million in revenue compared to $682.6 million last year, a drop of 12 percent.
Peripherals were the shining knight in a set of needy figures managing a 2 percent rise from $211.8 million last year to $217 million in 2010.
