Dead Space 2 PC “not on the plan”

deadspace2

Bluesnews managed to get a response out of EA on the subject of the ominously absent PC SKU of Dead Space 2 in the firm’s financials on Monday, and it doesn’t look good.

“As of right now a PC SKU is not in the plan,” a rep confirmed to the site.

PC fans will not be pleased.

Many thought the firm had dropped a typo on its third-quarter fiscal release, when it listed the Visceral sequel as console-only.

EA originally said the title was coming to PC, PS3 and 360 during it’s announcement in December.

Dead Space 2 is now confirmed for a fourth quarter release in EA’s fiscal 2011, which means it’ll be out in the January-March quarter of calendar 2011.

It’s ok, he stopped being a fan of EA when it turned out that their financial results didn’t support his belief that they made most of their revenue from PC games.

I am not a big fan of Dead Space or dead space 2 but keep pissing off pc gamers.

number 1

consoles will be hacked and pirated alot more than they are now.

number 2

keep pissing off pc gamers alot of pc gamers will stop supporting game Industry and hardware.

number 3

people wonder why pc gamers hate certen pulishers and game devs

number 4

pc gamers are must are your must wealthy gamers. We don’t have to spend a dime

they day hardcore pc gamers quit gaming is the day that gaming will come drash down on the heads of people who work in the industry.

With them high production costs in a not so great ression. You game devs think them consoles are going to save you they will not. Pc gamers are the real heart beat of gaming until people smarten up more game devs are going to go bankuprt. more publisher are going to go bankuprt.

mark my words, because my words are solid.

If PC gamers “are the real heart beat of gaming”, then how come PC games don’t sell very well? I mean, you’re lucky if one or two PC games chart within the top 10 in a whole year!

@Gheritt White

who buys the hardware that is so important to gaming every year. It’s so big that it makes 23 billion dallors. agin pc gamers made companies what they are today not consoles. It there is no hardware for the future you can kiss gaming good bye.

All genres are made on the pc. How long will it be until gamers get bored of fps and action. Ever since this consoles generation there has been a increase of garbage games thta people will not pay for. yes people will soon get sick of garbage games.

More and more people will start to hate game devs and publisher. Meny people will start to leave gaming for good. We can spend money else where. wWe don’t have to spend money on games. Just like retailers are starting to find out the hard way. alot of people are starting to get turn off by the way game devs treat their fan base. wWHo wants to spend money ongarbage games and loser lying game devs.

mainstream don’t tell you the whole truth. they don’t tell you that pc gaming and pc gamers spend 13 billion or more a year buying software and hardware.

Consoles are nothing more that big gaint money pits. You think 11 000 game devs are gone by chance or bad busness

I do wonder what would happen to graphics technology if the PC suddenly imploded as a games platform. Currently, progress is forced by ATI and Nvidia constantly trying to build faster and better graphics cards than the other (and Crytek releasing badly unoptimised engines).

If consoles start to have extended life cycles like this current generation, and if there is no PC games market, there will be no impetus to keep building faster graphics rendering technology.

So, while PC gaming is mostly a waste of time thanks to dodgy drivers, DRM and expensive hardware, it’s probably best it hangs around for a few years yet…

the reason game devs are having problems right now and the very reason games devs are going bankuprt is because of them consoles

microsoft and sony knows it, the gaming media knows it.

I am going to ask the game devs and publisher a very good questions

Do you really think sony and microsoft really care about your business? I mean after all they are running a business too.

what is it now they have lost billions on consoles? they are going to have to make their money back some how.. That means charging you an arm and leg if they need too.

How do you like sony’s and microsoft’s dictorship?

what are you going to do when gaming fans turn their very backs on you?

BDH, I see you typing but all I can read is “waaaaaaaah!!.

Hardware sales may matter to first-parties, but definitely not to third parties, who are responsible for the vast majority of commercial games published today. Since we both agree that PC games don’t *sell* (key phrase right there), that’s their reason for reducing the number of titles they publish for PC “gamers” (I mean, if you can really call them that anyway.)

Plus, it’s not in the first-parties interests to support the PC, as they have hardware to shift. Looks like a perfect storm as far as PC gaming is concerned! Pretty soon the PC gaming landscape will be a wasteland, only populated little ghettoes of MMOs and even fewer RTS games scattered here and there.

And you know what, BDH? It’s all YOUR fault. If perhaps you hadn’t said your words were so solid when they clearly aren’t, then maybe the publishers would have listened to you!

I feel so sorry for you… no, wait – I pity you and the fact you’re missing out on so many great games right now.

@15
Saying PC games don’t sell is a bit harsh.
They just don’t sell as well as console games. And to survive in this industry you need to sell your games first and for-most to console gamers.

#18

Gheritt White
10/02/10, 1:26 pm

“what does UT3,wolftensten,fear 2 all have in common. lol”

They all sold better on console than on PC, that’s what.

You and your friends should *buy more games*. BDH, Maybe then you could save your dying platform.

I predict that in just a few years, there will be more games developed for the iPhone than the PC. It shall come to pass, because… My words are solid.

@ Quiiick: Logic is not my agenda here.

PC games sell just fine.

The format just tends to be a tighter niche. There’s less “exclusive” content, but the sales are just as good for the stuff that is.

World of Warcraft and The Sims say hi.

“Who spends 500,- on a new GPU anyway these days…”

“hey EA and ubisoft how are your big bright red numbers these days.”

BDH, stop being a trolling idiot. E.A. are responsible for some of the biggest selling PC franchise in gaming’s history.

“Look forward to your future of MMOs and The Sims, BDH.”

The same could realistically be said for the 360 (and to a lesser extent, the PS3, though that has less support all round anyway) and shooters.

“Who spends 500,- on a new GPU anyway these days…”

Nobody, considering you put together a perfectly playable PC for that price, easily.

“Not as much of a joke as PC game sales. Have you seen them?”

Yes, and most of them (exclusive titles) sell just fine. Star Trek Online had 1 million registered players at launch, just to give you a recent example.

“EA, mircosft, sony, ubisoft likes big bright red numbers.”

Considering every single one of those companies in currently in the green, that remark makes absolutely no sense. If you’re going to defend the format, at least do it with facts and rational reasoning.

@ 26: Yeah, 13 billion a year off one or two titles – like The Sims and WoW.

Games don’t sell as well on the PC as the do on consoles – everybody knows that – which is why publishers are making fewer and fewer games for PC.

Enjoy your MMO and RTS games, ‘cos pretty soon, that’s all you’ll have.

PC gaming is a barren wasteland.

My words are solid.

“Enjoy your MMO and RTS games, ‘cos pretty soon, that’s all you’ll have.”

This is the second (third?) time you have said that. It’s reduntant, considering consoles are smothered with first person shooters.

Every format has it strengths. Those two genres are some of the PCs. Excluding specific genres just because they’re not part of your person preference just makes you look like a fanboy.

@ Gheritt White

PC games sales are mostly Digital Downloads (Steam, GOG, Direct 2 Drive, Gamersgate, Impulse, Play Green House, EA Store, plus countless developer sites).

These figures don’t get published, so there is no way of knowing sales figures, unlike consoles.

So saying “PC games don’t sell. This is FACT” is just gobshite talk!. Also, it’s not FACT, it’s opinion!
