Moore: Arc is “a different experience than Wii”

Arc

EA Sports president Peter Moore has said he considers the PlayStation Motion Controller – codenamed Arc – will be “a different experience” from Wii.

“It’s a different experience than Wii and we’re watching it with great interest. As you might imagine, we’re working on stuff – in particular on what sports can bring to it,” said Moore, speaking to CVG.

“One thing we’ve learnt with the Wii is that we can afford [to spend time on building bespoke games]. The two that stand out in terms of authentic sports motion on Wii are golf and tennis. If you can capture that motion, that brings the game to life in a very unique way. We’re looking at how we bring that sports credibility and authenticity to life with Sony’s new platform.”

Last week, SCEA confirmed Arc was a codename for the tech after THQ CEO Brian Farrell called it just that in the company’s Q3 FY10 financials.

This came as last month, VG247 was told that would be the final name for the motion controller. A domain registration further beefed up the rumour.

Previously down for March, the controller is now due for a release in fall.

Still seems sort of weird to hear Peter talk about Sony and Nintendo stuff without adding ‘sucks’ to the end of each sentence. :-D

I’d like to see him join Sony.

Just for kicks and see him shout 360 sucks.

I would love to get a Wii Sports Resort game on PS3… It would be a laugh at parties.

@5: I think it’s the safest bet in the industry to assume that you’ll be getting a Sports Resort game on both Arc and Natal before the end of the year…
