It's deserved, although if the PS3 version had released properly they'd have much more in the bag already. The patch should see things even out, though.

The game is a masterpiece so deserves it .

And like i mentioned earlier , people acted , when talking about Darksiders and bayo sales expectations , as if the genre usually ever sold better at launch .

Only God of war 2 has been making a big 500k splash within the first week in usa . Most of the time and most successful games of the genre like devil may cry , or even soul reaver way back , always launched with the same kind of numbers and took some time to reach a 2 million mark .

People are naive with the whole "one million sales" isnt enough in this economy and with current budget for games .

it's just analysts being over-greedy , publishers making that excuse to justify dlcs , and empty talk from the like of Bobby kotick .

So far the current higher budget for games still made quite a lot of dough and benefits within their first 500k -1 million units .

And there is no way that even accounting advertising , it cost more than games like Yakuza 3 , among a few others .

THQ and sega themselves are happy enough and moving on to sequels already .

Hell earlier today , they were PRing and pimpin' the sh*t out of High voltage , when everyone though that their Conduit making 350k was abysmal .

I think 3 maybe even 5 Million should be the new benchmark. But like you said PT depends on the budget Castle Crashers budget or UC budget?

My guess is that this game will have a decent sales tail. It is stylish enough and made a big of enough initial splash thsat it should keep selling for awhile. Might be on the cheap, but it should still move. That will be when I get my copy.

I think for most games a million units is still pretty spiffy, it's just we usually hear about Halo or CoD or other giant budget games in which they need to sell 3 million to break even.

So it seems that publishers still consider a million units sold as a success, even if analysts don’t.

I guess that depends on what your budget was to start with, and how much they expected to sell. If FF XIII only did a million I suspect you'd find some of their execs hanging from the rafters.

It's been a while since I've studied any kind of mathematics, but I can only count four games in that top five.

Aside from the gnarly PS3 port (much improved post patch it has to be said) this is well deserved. I've just got the game and can hardly put it down, it's wow set piece after wow set piece. A few too many boss fights for my taste, but overall this is an amazing experience.
