Square Enix working on 5 unannounced titles

square-enix-logo-2

The latest Famitsu has revealed Square Enix is working on five unannounced projects.

It also said in the issue that at least two of them are expected to drop in 2010, although no mention on if it’s for Japan or worldwide.

And it was confirmed in the same issue it also has a big Dragon Quest announcement planned for summer. No mention if it’s related to Dragon Quest X for Wii, which got announced donkeys ago.

We’re calling it: Final Fantasy XV to be announced as 360 exclusive at E3.

Currently, the company’s biggest title is Final Fantasy XIII, which is due for a release next month in the west on March 9 for PS3 and 360.

check your sources ;)
there’s a slight probability this may be accurate as a “timed exclusive” and it will be announced as an exclusive at E3.Microsoft is trying desperately to win the Japanese audience and FF as they think is one way to accomplish that.

But then again seeing how FFXIII is going to sell much more on the ps3 worldwide(check online stores and it’s on the top 5 preoder list,where the 360 version doesn’t even exist in many of them)and Sony is gaining ground little by little and off course owns a small percentage in SE…i don’t see SE going “that way”

I’m calling it small chance…but Microsoft is predictable so your prediction could be accurate :)

Don’t forget this almost certainly includes whatever Eidos has up its sleeves… so that’d be a new Tomb Raider, then. I;d *love* for Soul Reaver to get the Squeenix treatment!

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Dissidia’s sequel to release on more platforms as well… As Gheritt says, this is Eidos as well so in theory, it is quite a low number.

If they do a new Soul Reaver then all is forgiven. Unless it’s shit.

@15 i’m pretty sure we’ll see Dissidia on next gen platforms some time.Dissidia on the PsP gave me the feeling it was made to see if people will like the concept before they make it next-gen

Id be cautious about a new Soul Reaver as Amy Hennig is at ND now and it was her who was the creative vision behind the games, but yea id like to slice people in half again sooo fun

Indeed, it’d have to be very carefully handled without her. Er… matron. :-D

“its shit the last one ended on such a cliffhanger.”

Uuuuh… the last one *didn’t* end on a cliffhanger. It closed off the story completely.

@Michael

No it ended on a cliffhanger. Kain survives without a heart for one and the original group was making a sequel to Defiance but was cancel 6 months into development.

And it’s a pity . I know some people love tomb raider , and love seeing crystal dynamic at helm , but i’ve always felt they were wasting their talent on tomb raider chores and duty , instead of pursuing their own games , like the Kain saga.

One could still hope that SE could decide to revive it …
It can’t hurt more than the previous direction Eidos was going on it’s own

@Neo

LoK series and TOmb Raider series are two different teams. Eidos is the one that cancelled the Dark Prophecy project and after that the team drifted apart to other companies.

“No it ended on a cliffhanger. ”

It’s generally considered that his role as the Scion of Balance is what allowed him to live on without the Heart of Darkness, but if that’s not a sufficient explanation, you can just consider it a plot hole. It doesn’t change the fact that the story was complete and had come full circle at the end of Defiance.

Any story a sequel might have had would have likely been a new story, instead of a continuation of the previous one. It probably would have just filled in the gaps between Defiance and Blood Omen 2.

@Michael

the artists and 3D stated the story was a continuation of what happened in Defiance. Doesn’t matter really as the team has broken up all that is left is a reboot or leave it.
