Sims is 10 years old today

The Sims celebrates is tenth birthday today, having sold more then 125 million games.
The franchise has grossed more than $1.6 billion in revenue, putting it on level with the biggest Hollywood movies, such as The Matrix trilogy ($1.4 billion) and Titanic ($1.8 billion), as Venturebeat notes.
The Sims 3, which launched last summer, has sold more than 4.5 million copies and was the best-selling PC game of 2009. More than 110 million user-created items now exist for The Sims 3.
“For ten years, which seems an eternity in the games world, The Sims has been a leader. There are no competitors,” Sims studio GM Tim LeTourneau said in this interview.
“No one is doing what we do. That is a testament to the game that came out 10 years ago and has continued to grow and develop. It’s a game that is about enabling the players to tell their own story in an incredible virtual world of their own creation. To me, what makes the game timeless is that it is a reflection of the player much more than it is a reflection of us.”

10 years? That flew by! I still remember buying the original from a computer show for a princely sum of £25 and reading the manual in a little chef on the route home.
