“Our best work” is still to come, says BioWare

Thought Mass Effect 2 was something special? BioWare’s best is yet to come, according to co-founder Ray Muzyka.

Speaking to CVG, the exec said the studio hasn’t yet peaked.

If it wasn’t difficult it wouldn’t be worth while. Our best work is still ahead of us,” Muzyka said.

That’s why I’m doing it, because I think our best work is still ahead of us and that’s why our teams are doing it, I think.”

Last week, Mass Effect 2 was released to great acclaim, and became the fourth best-scoring 360 title on MetaCritic with a score of 96.

It was certainly worth it for the developer: the RPG sequel went on to sell 2 million units in its first four days on sale.

Already, though, Mass Effect 3 is in pre-dev. BioWare has stressed this several times, with project director Casey Hudson saying the trilogy will wrap up on this gen of consoles

Muzyka has recently said some new BioWare projects will be shown at E3, with at least one of them being for PS3.

Dragon Age 2 then, anybody?

Since I got off on Friday, all I played over the weekend was Mass Effect 2.

It really is properly amazing.

Go buy it if you haven’t already.

It is properly time consuming, innit.

One minute, I’m playing from 11:05pm on Friday, the next thing I know, it’s 6:20am on Saturday morning. :D

I’ve played 20h so far, and can’t stop, games like mass effect are very rare, worth every penny. Bioware has become one of my fav dev since Mass Effect 1.
Mass Effect is just an adult version of Star Wars

Ive just recruited the Krogan so far, the decisions from the first game dont have that much of a change. Id say its more Star Trek then Star Wars. Anyway excellent game and will be in the top 3 position for this year.

I finished it in 32 hours 40 minutes last night at 9ish – I started playing at 4pm on Friday. Mental. It’s really very, very good.

Bioware has to be my most respected company. They continually release nothing but triple A titles that I absolutely devour. Not just once, I devour them again and again until they release a new game. I the characters they create and the stories they tell. Far more epic than any movie in recent memory in my opinion.

I would say bio-ware is one of the must respected companies. It is one of the must beloved companies too.

Certain teams at BioWare are phenomenal, for sure – but I don’t think we’d be singing the entire company’s praises had they only ever made Jade Empire and Dragon Age: Origins.
