125 million DS units, 65 million Wiis sold LtD, confirms Nintendo

Nintendo's confirmed over 125 million DS units and 65 million Wii units have been sold according to LtD numbers released by the company this morning.

The DS numbers include all of the other variations released for the console so far, including the DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL.

This is all within a four - five year period for both consoles, respectively: the DS went on sale in 2005, with Wii launching in winter 2006.

Recently, it was announced 40 million DS' and 20 million Wiis were moved in the EMEA region.

Japan:

  • Wii - 9.7 million units
  • DS - 29.9 million

Americas:

  • Wii - 32 million
  • DS - 45 million

Other Regions (Europe, etc)

  • Wii - 25.7 million
  • DS - 50 million

Meanwhile, for the period between April 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009, the hardware numbers are below:

  • Wii - 17 million units (worldwide)
  • Nintendo DS - 23.3 million (worldwide)
