DICE thinking about potential sequel to Battlefield 1943

battlefield1943a

DICE has revealed it’s thinking about doing a sequel to Battlefield 1943.

“We will see more of those in the future? We’ll see,” said Executive Producer on Battlefield: Bad Comppany 2, Karl-Magnus Troedsson.

As a franchise, we’re going to focus on the near future but that doesn’t exclude that we can do more of these smaller products in the near future.”

He also confirmed the studio will be bringing premium DLC for BF 1943.

The game released last summer for PS3 and 360, with a  PC release due sometime this year.

Thanks, OXM.

I thought the point of BF1943 was to always keep it alive with DLC, and now -whilst some DLC is coming- they’re thinking of a “sequel”?
Pft, if its to just reuse an old engine with 3 maps in the whole game then i aint paying this time.

@3 yeah same here, it was fun for a few days, but there isn’t enough variety to warrant ever playing it again

“BF 1944.”

Just release one every year, BF is the new Fifa!

The DLC had better come up before Bad Company 2, otherwise there isn’t much point…

It might sound like a good plan now, but they’re stuffed once they get to BF1946.

umm, if DICE release a sequel to a £10 game without releasing any DLC for the first one i might just tell them to fuck off.

Because it’ll be much the same engine (hmm actually might be bad company 2 engine) but anyway..why the fuck would you do this? do they not think about these things before they release a game designed for DLC (hmm actually we’re upgrading our game engine maybe we should wait until we finish that then release)

too much sense i guess.

1943, Bad Company 1 and 2 all use the same engine, the frostbite engine. It’s just been edited a bit for each new game.
