Alan Wake’s storyline will be a “driving factor throughout the game”, says MS

The story in Alan Wake will be one of the game’s “driving factors” throughout.

That’s according to Laura Disney, product marketing manager for Microsoft.

The time Remedy has spent on Alan Wake is indicative of the final result players can expect to see,” Disney said to CVG.

The storyline will run as a driving factor throughout the game, creating an atmosphere that captivates the player in a way that many straight-out horror games do not.

Alan Wake will blur the lines between video gaming and television, and play on the strengths of both to create something truly compelling.”

Last week, the studio’s CFO Mika Reini said the thriller will get a “a conclusive and satisfactory ending.”

Disney also confirmed in the interview the game is still on track for a spring 2010 – a date given by Remedy’s Sam Lake at E3 last June, and Markus Maki in a live-chat with the developer last week.

Story a driving factor?
You mean, it’s no fun to play, so the story is what’ll keep you going?
I love PR talk.

As much as I have been waiting for this game since it was annouced and will ravish it entirely upon release, I can’t help but feel we’ll all get the game, complete it in 8 hours and then never really talk about it again.

I really hope it’s not the case and we all cherish it with BG&E style love for the next 6 years, but I dunno.

I sort of have the same worries, Hunam. Whenever anyone says something’s ‘like a television programme’ it automatically makes me think it’s short, linear and has little or no replay value once you’re done.

silent hill homecoming sucked balls, it had nothing driving me, so there for i stopped playing it

so a driving story is a instant +1 to not sucking

(i really just wanted to vent my hatred for SH homecoming)

The problem with Silent Hill Homecoming was that is was a terrible, terrible game and an affront to the now tarnished Silent Hill brand.

Silent Hill 4 is underrated to be honest. Whilst the game itself isn’t the best, it’s still perfectly fun and has a metric ton of pure SH lore.

Perfectly fun apart from those ridiculous ghosts that you can’t kill.

SH4 wasn’t a bad game at all. It just wasn’t really a SH game.

Alan Wake owns that shitty QTE Cutscene fiasco more video than gameplay that is Heavy Rain.

Remedy Seal of Quality, baby!
