Dante’s Inferno: Dark Forest DLC will land on both systems

Visceral has revealed that the Dark Forest DLC included in the Divine Edition of Dante’s Inferno for PS3, will also be made available on Xbox 360.

Speaking with VG247 during a round-table interview last night, executive producer Jonathan Knight revealed that while the DLC would be made available for both versions, only those who purchased the Divine Edition for PS3 would get it free.

Announced back in December, the exclusive PS3 version includes developer commentaries, the DLC, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the game’s soundtrack and a digital version of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, all for the standard retail price of $60.

In the game, Dark Forest is a prequel level where Dante’s lost in the forest and feeling a bit disoriented. Whether this disorientation is physical, psychological, spiritual, or what have you, was not revealed – but it provides more background into who he is and why he chose his particular path in life.

In the epic poem, this beginning stage was described by Dante Aligeri rather vaguely, so this gave Visceral free reign to explore all the possibilities. It was never mentioned whether the Three Beasts -the leopard, lion and she-wolf – would be present or not.

Sounds awesome. We’ve pre-ordered ours already.

There’s loads more from the interview, so be sure to check back with us during the day for more.

Dante starts smacking demon heads February 5, and the DLC is expected to land on both systems in March.

So is the DLC free or what? It sounds like the sort of thing you wouldn’t want to go back and play later given that it’s essentially a ‘prequel’ chunk.

He never said it was free or not on 360 – which given the past and present with MS – it prob won’t be.

The Prequel, sounds rather awesome actually. A Dark Forest, a man confronting his past, it’s more psychological than anything, at least that was Dante’s intent with the poem, and it sounds like they’ve captured that. At any rate, they plan on releasing more DLC for it, so there should be more goodies considering how vast the literary work is.

Because they’re such sticklers for authenticity, right?

I was wondering if it was going to be another one of those ‘free with the voucher in the box’ bits o’ DLC to encourage people to pick up games new. EA seem very keen on those of late.

So basically, we PS3 owners get it for free since the Divine Edition is the only edition out for PS3 (according to Gamestop).

Well… free if you spend the extra cash on the Divine Edition and don’t mind being saddled with a whole bunch of tat as well. :-)

Am I right in thinking that the Divine Edition was only ever confirmed for the US?

I thought there was a Divine Edition and the normal addition for PS3.

When I went into GameStop during holiday shopping and put my $5 down, the gal asked if I wanted the Divine Edition for PS3 instead since it was the same price as the regular.

But I only see the one version for PS3 on both Amazon and GameStop Online.

Yes, the Divine Edition is US only, but the UK gets the special Death one through GAME.

And does that version bundle the DLC?

Since the DLC comes out in March, I assume it has a voucher just like you mentioned earlier.

EDIT: Just like with the nuddie patch for Saboteur I reckon.
