Capcom/Microsoft game is Monster Hunter: Frontier Online

That announcement Capcom and Microsoft had planned up their sleeves?
It’s a port of the MMO Monster Hunter: Frontier for Xbox 360 from the PC and PS2.
So far, very little info is know so far, but it seems the latest Famitsu is carrying the title, according to GAF.
Expect more info from Capcom Japan very soon – 8am GMT in fact when an embargo expires – with a formal announcement from Capcom Europe and America in the next couple of hours.
But whatever info is known so far goes like this:
- Subs run at ¥1400 per month
- 360 servers are seperate from PC lot, but Capcom wishes to join them later
- HDD required
More info soon.

Hmmm wonder if this will stay 360 exclusive(as in this gen console exclusive since its on PC and PS2) or if it’ll see a jump to PS3 as well like the last game announced from Capcom through Microsoft(Lost Planet 2) If this doesn’t sell 360′s in Japan nothing will!

WOW! That’s probably the least exciting announcement they could have ever made!
It’s a Capcom/Microsoft exclusive! So what is it? A port of a donkeys old PS2 game that nobody in the West cares about, and targeted at a Japanese audience who don’t give a shit about the platform that its on.
What could possibly go wrong?

Actually, that’s incredibly awesome as far as I’m concerned.

MH is BIG in Japan(and China), but I believe most popularity is from the PSP installments which enable portability and face-to-face play.

i’ve just read up on the series, i think it’ll be pretty cool, i actually kinda guessed it would be this.
although not too happy about a monthly subscription (if i’m reading it right)
and the graphics look pretty blocky

Capcom have told C&VG that it’s “not confirmed for the West” too. So it might not even make it over here.

Wonder why capcom has suddenly decided to make some deals with MS?
Then again its amounted to a 3 year old port and some free dlc I suppose >_>

People here don’t seem to understand quite how big the Monster Hunter franchise is in Japan.
The people bitching about this seem to have completely failed to realise that this was originally announced in a *Japanese* magazine and on a Japanese website.
This was *never* a decision made for the western audience.

Let’s hope that the Graphics are not just a wii-like port.
I was hoping for a MH-titel though. Got it on my PSP-phat, till the a-stick was worn out …

@ 14 – ok fair enough but this a rerelease not a new game AND it’s on a console that the japanese gaming populace couldn’t give two shits about O_O
