Mass Effect 2 video shows how to import Shepard from ME1

masseffect2

IGN‘s posted up a video showing how to import you Mass Effect 1 save files into Mass Effect 2, thus bringing over your original Shepard.

It also shows some of the story elements affected in the sequel when you import your character from the first game.

An option for New Game Plus is also shown. That was confirmed a couple of weeks back.

BioWare’s epic RPG sequel is released next Friday for 360 and PC in the UK. It goes on sale in the US next Tuesday.

The game’s DLC system was detailed last night, along with confirmation of the first two packs of DLC.

Project director for Mass Effect, Casey Hudson confirmed this morning that the Mass Effect series will end on 360 and PC.

Nope no clangers will be shit now that there is none.

Are you allowed to tweak your imported Shepard’s features at all? The Shepard I made for the first game looked sort of okay in the character edit screen but once in-game he looked kind of….. boss-eyed. I’d kind of like to keep my choices from the first game but also have the chance to give him a bit of plastic surgery. :-)

@Blerk
you will be able to fix your appearance and change class if you want. THe only thing you cannout change is Sex and the choices you made previously.

I still don’t get it.
What kind of choices are imported and what effects will they have?

I don’t remember having made any important choices apart from choosing a specific character in the first Mass Effect.

Sounds more like PR blah-blah to me.

@7

You will have to play the game. They will not release what choices have an effect, they want to keep that a surprise. But reviewers state that the last choice you made about the council will be the first one to see the effects.

It would be nice if they could read-out the two team-mates I most played with and make those characters emotionally more attached to me than the rest of the bunch.

But my guess is that the choices will be based on boring things like having been good/evil in ME1, and this will not effect ME2 in any meaningful way.

Quiiick its known several factors from the first game will carry over
* which party members survive (whether wrex survived is one of the things shown in the video summarizing your mass effect 1 character)
* ME1 love interest
* if you saved the rachni queen

A couple more are in there too.

I can remember what I did for all of those, but I can’t even remember what the council choice from the end was, never mind what I chose. :-D

Thanks for the info, rainer!

If the “love interest” has any meaningful consequences this will be great indeed. :-)

IGN says sometime next week. I just read the OXM and PC gamer one.

@quiiick

The Devs have stated on the forums that its atleast 100 choices transfer over to the sequel. They said to assume everything that its in ME 1 will transfer over if not by second act then definitely the 3rd.
