If you were hoping that the newly-announced Assassin’s Creed game, to release in the coming Ubi fiscal year, is a completely new banana with a new setting, think again: it’s more Ezio, and it’s more of the same story.

A Ubi rep, as reported by CVG, said in the conference call that followed the announcement, “The game will take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin’s Creed II.”

The game will as a full-priced product. It’ll release in the 12 months ending March 2011.

Ubi told VG247 yesterday that it has nothing to do with upcoming Assassin’s Creed II DLC.

The publisher announced the game on Wednesday, saying it would be the first in the series to feature multiplayer.

Assassin’s Creed II has now sold more than 6 million units, and is expected to reach 9 million by March 2010.

Thanks, Gheritt White.

Is this AC3 or a side-story of some sort? Sounds to me like a cheap way for Ubi to re-use the assets of ACII and get a sequel out quickly.

In a way though it will be nice to see what happens to Ezio after the ending to ACII. You’ve got to feel a bit sorry for the guy, the entire purpose of his life is to stand still, shut up and listen!

i hope they make him an old man, like snake in mgs4, and there will be a new mechanic where you have to go to wee all the time

as for the multiplayer, one person assassinates while the other steers the gondola…..SHOTGUN

It’s so disappointing… I guess Ubisoft didn’t want to invest much more money in developing a new setting so they just used the same one, same hero and extended the scenario ?

I guess, Assassin’s Creed was always supposed to be a trilogy, which means that we won’t have another setting ?

It might have originally been a trilogy, but if AC2 sold well, they might have now be thinking of making more to milk it for all it’s worth.

    Assassin’s Creed 2.5?

It’s kind of a shame it’s not a completely new product. I’ve got this horrible feeling that they’re feeling the pressure to do the ‘yearly’ thing, which is never good for the quality of the final product. :-(

i hope we’ll get to play a bit of the Adam and Eve stuff

Desmond is gonna be a direct descendant of Adam….or better yet maybe even eve….wait, both Adam and Eve would be his descendants if they were his great^98 grand parents, maybe you will get to go back in time and have sex with yourself, using natal, talk about pushing new boundaries

what motions would you have to do to simultaneously play as two characters having sex….the hula hoop

*Marjorie* and *Nigel* were clearly in *A Massive Washing Machine* though, they were kept prisoners under a big banana.

If there’s more Ezio that means there’s more ludicrous accents to contend with, they could at least move him to France perhaps, so we could have some Allo Allo style ones instead.

It would be nice if everyone at least flagged their spoilers. I imagine there’s a lot of people that haven’t finished AC2 yet.

Hey Ubi, remember Splinter Cell? Remember how you nearly killed the entire franchise by quickly pumping out sequels that got worse and worse?

Sorry, I have changed mine, you have my sincerest apologies but it doesn’t give too much away anyway I feel, it certainly doesn’t tell you about the game changing assassination on a turnip that Ezio performs with a SCUD missile.

Buggeration, I really wanted it to go back to an earlier time period with fresh character, much as I loved AC2.

You mean Chaos Theory & Double Agent, the highlights of the series? ;p

DA less so, but the Xbox version seems just as awesome as Chaos Theory did, and I actually really liked the 360 version (despite its atrocious loading times).

For the record I’ve finished AC2 — twice in fact. I just think it’s best to err on the side of caution, especially when a game’s only been on the shelves a couple of months. Hell the PC version isn’t even out yet; do you want to make BDH cry?

    Don’t answer that.

What, this isn’t a spin-off for handhelds like AC: Bloodlines?

it wont be assassin’s creed 3 – after the ending of number 2 no way would it feature ezio

just like bloodlines featured altair, this’ll be bloodlines 2 featuring ezio, and the multiplayer will probably be ad hoc

Same here, sure. Same setting? Very unlikely.

“it wont be assassin’s creed 3 – after the ending of number 2 no way would it feature ezio”

Considering this won’t be out until middle of 2010, I would be very surprised if this *isn’t* Assassin’s Creed 3.
