Halo: Reach to be biggest game of 2010 “across all platforms”, says MS

Halo: Reach will be the biggest game of the year “across all platforms”.
That’s according to Director of Marketing at Xbox UK, Stephen McGill.
“Our hope for Halo: Reach is to be the biggest title of 2010 not only for Xbox, but across all platforms – a forecast which has been mirrored by industry professionals,” he said.
“Halo: Reach takes the legacy of Halo’s rich multiplayer gameplay to an entirely new level, delivering experiences that we think old and new players alike will enjoy for years to come.”
He further added that the company was “thrilled” from the response the trailer shown at the VGAs got.
“It’s an exciting time for Halo fans and we’re thrilled by the response from trailer shown at the VGAs last month which was phenomenal.”
Halo: Reach will launch in the fall.
The game will appear in the next issues of Edge and Game Informer.
Earlier this week, scans from the GI main feature leaked onto the internet, which introduced us to Noble Team: our main set of characters in the game.
Thanks, CVG.

Guess that means it’s Treyarch’s turn to make a Call of Duty this year.

At least they say “hope” in this case rather than flat out coming out and saying it will be. You can’t blame them for hoping.

It’s not going to be a system seller though is it…I’m pretty sure anyone who wants to play a Halo game is pretty much certain to have a 360 already.

@sennasnit
Erm… it’s a sequel to a space shooter; what exactly are they supposed to do, turn Halo into a third person adventure game set in some other era, not in space and with no shooting?

So it will take more than the £1,056,000,000 that WOW will most likely gross next year?

How are people missing the world “hope” in the article? Or are they just reading JC’s provocative title?

Yes you’re right Psycho… it’s the misleading title. Slaps own wrist for biting!

It’s going to be interesting to see if Halo: Reach can outsell Star Craft 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I personally doubt it.

I’d say people who didn’t like ODST won’t buy this.
Kind of like what happened to GT4 because GT4:P was frankly crap. Then GT4 sold less than GT3

I used to love Halo, when the first came out, but from the second on, seriously, the game is crap, it has nothing new at all, btw i played all of them, so im not talking without knowlegde. I think its going to sell just because its halo and there are a lot of halo fanboys that would eat up anything they throw at them…

Halo went downhill as soon as Alex Seropian left Bingie. Oh, how it makes me weep to never know how the series’ father intended it all to play out.
That said, Halo: Reach is still a day one purchase for me, no-brainer!
