Nintendo: Metroid Prime Trilogy no longer being published or shipped

metroidprimetrilogy

If you’ve been holding out on purchasing a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy, you better get it now because Nintendo says that it has stopped publishing it.

“Unfortunately, Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer being shipped,” a Nintendo rep told Coffee With Games(via GoNintendo). “Having said that, you may be able to find what you seek through the secondhand video game market.

“When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability. However, a reason for this was not announced”.

When we checked Amazon, sure enough, the site was no longer selling the title but independent vendors through the service were – and a quick check over at GameStop netted us a big fat zero.

Weird. Quite why they do this, I have no idea.

It looks like they all come on one disc… what’s the picture above of? That’s lovely packaging!

Even the collectors edition is picture like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002ATY7JE/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1263077460&sr=8-1&condition=all

Picked up MP3 last week and it’s bloody good stuff, the Wiimote control works amazingly well! So well that I’m definitely going to pick up this trilogy so I can replay the first two with the same controls ^____^

Looks like I’m going to have to be quick about it though, eh? :/

Why would a company do this exactly?

cos theres no use publishing what you cant sell, if you’re cynical you might suggest that this is a tactic to spur sales but they aren’t in a habit of revealing when a publishing run has stopped. so I’d say its the former reason.

packaging looks great. shame the game was nowhere near as good as Super Metroid :(
maybe the upcoming metroid can get back to some quality 2D roots.

That picture isn’t the official box art, it’s just a fan-made mock-up.

I saw the collectors edition of this in my local Sainsburys for £14.99. Didn’t pick it up because I’d never have time to play it… probably should have though.
