Halo: Reach tipped to be biggest seller of this year, says GI survey

According to results from a GI Network Survey, Halo: Reach will be the biggest selling game of 2010, with Final Fantasy XIII and Starcraft II coming second and third.
Meanwhile, Alan Wake was tipped as the year’s top “dark horse,” with Heavy Rain and Darksiders rounding off the top three.
As far as genres went, music is predicted to further decline. Over 33.7 percent of those polled fancied the genre will continue to dip, while 32.3 percent said casual/social games will rise.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2, both of which won best game of 2009 and most antcipated game of 2010 in the VG247 community awards, were announced as the winners of the same catagories in the GI survey.

As much as I’d hate to admit it, I think a certain Treyarch CoD title would have something to say about that.

New CoD has it’s work cut out for it if it’s a Vietnam game. They never sell that well because the war it’s based on, whilst interesting, has such a bad reputation for America that the rest of the world doesn’t really want anything to do with it.

FFXIII, Mass Effect 2, God of War 3 and fucking Bioshock 2 should not be on that list.
GT5 needs to be higher. CoD needs to be higher (CoD is without a doubt, bigger than Halo).
FIFA 11 and Starcraft 2, I have no idea. Never paid attention to either enoguh to argue.

Why? All four games are certainly going to be big revenue earners for each company, especially FF and GoW.
They most certainly deserve their place on the list.

This isn’t about deserving, it’s about predictions, and those franchises just arent as big as the others. They’re big, still, just in the wrong order.
I probabaly shouldn’t have said they shouldnt be on the list, rather than they need to be lower.
Bioshock 2 needs to be off the list though.

I agree.
It’s not even on my radar really, but I can’t see any other game outselling Reach.

Where is the new Mario and Zelda on the list? They should do very well with all the Wii owners out there just waiting for the right game.

i’m beggining to understand what’s all the fuss about this and many other shooters this gen.
They remind me of fast food reastaurants… they have fairly tasty food, they become a trend from time to time especially by teenagers… but the truth is there is no real(essence) food you will find there…just junk

I reckon that GT5 will probably be the best selling game worldwide. People have been waiting for it for ages and it’s a slightly broader crowd that will be buying it compared to another Halo FPS game.
Halo is really loved in the US but over in Europe and Japan i reckon GT5 will sell more.

Halo is like The Sims there is this other group of people out there who buy this stuff by the truckload.
I think they underestimate Starcraft 2 that could certainly reach a lot more, given its big international following compared to the relatively USA centric Halo. Also SC2 is designed to run on low end PC’s so Blizzard isn’t going after the niche high end scene.
