japaneseflag

Famitsu's posted figures for the Japanese gaming market for last year, showing a big YoY decrease from ¥582 billion to ¥542 billion.

Although the second half of the year in Japan saw the release of Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII, which pushed the software market up by over ten percent, overall software figures were down from ¥332 billion in 2008 to ¥326 billion in 2009.

Hardware figures were just as glum: console sales estimates were at ¥216 billion, significantly down from ¥250 billion in 2008.
