Alien Breed Evolution on Live now, price to be corrected shortly

alienbreedevolution2

The first episode of Alien Breed Evolution’s up on XBL now, but someone’s stuck it up for 1200MSP instead of the advertised 800.

Developer Team17 just put out a press release saying the price is going to altered “as soon as possible” and “this is an error outside our immediate control.”

Sounds like someone’s not very happy. Buy it as soon as it says 800, innit.

Dark Void trailer shows dogfighting, rolling about in the air

darkvoid

Look. Can you just stop talking about videogames, publishers of the world? Just in case you’d forgotten Dark Void’s out on January 22, Capcom’s stuck out a video of the game’s protagonist shooting things. A lot.

Watch it after the break.

There’s air-to-air shooting and air-to-ground shooting. There’s also plenty of dodging on display. Looks pretty good, to be fair.

PC, PS3 and 360, developed by Airtight.

GT shows off new Darksiders gameplay, Mark Hamill doing VO

darksiders4

This looks fucking mint. A GT video preview of Darksiders – after the break – has shown off a heap of gameplay features from the imminent devily actioner, revealing a sandbox environment, glidey wings, dungeons, GoW-style bosses and tons more.

There’s also a clip there of Mark Hamill doing one of the voices. This merely adds to the awesome.

The Vigil game’s out on January 8 for PS3 and 360. Seriously, watch it. We’re getting code soon, so we’ll stick up the first 20 minutes or so as soon as we can.

Metro 2033: “It’s not an open world game”

metro2033

In case you had any designs on THQ’s Metro 2033 being an open world FPS, a la S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you need to check that shit right now. It isn’t.

“It’s a story-driven, atmospheric, first-person shooter. It’s not an open world game,” EP Dean Sharpe told Inside Xbox.

“The goal was to make a very believable, atmospheric, story-driven game, and I think that we did that.”

You play as a guy who’s lived underground for most of his life, and gets sent on a world-saving mission. The whole thing’s set after the bomb.

There’s tons of footage through there. Looks wicked. It’s out for PC in the first quarter of next year.

Nintendo trademarks “Zii” [Update]

z

Awesome. According to Siliconera, Nintendo’s trademarked “Zii”. It’s like “Wii”. With a “z”.

Wii 2 would have been a little more traditional, don’t you think? Wii60, maybe?

There’s no detail, obviously. Probably just Shigeru filing random trademarks at 2.00am in his Santa hat and reindeer pants.

Update: Yeah. You might want to look at this.

Hawk: RIDE is not a gimmick

ride

Bony Tony’s continuing to stand by RIDE, despite the fact it’s been battered to death at review, saying he doesn’t feel the peripheral format is a “gimmick”.

“I feel like the device is a flagship for other games. I think we can do another skate game, I think we can do other board-type games, surfing, snowboarding. That really was the master plan,” he told Kotaku.

“I didn’t think it was some gimmick that people were going to have to buy again next year.”

Or any other year, from the look of it. Hit the link for the full thing.

Thanks, EG.

360 MW2 is biggest selling game in the US this year

modernwarfare22

According to NPD data, the 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 is the biggest selling game in the US this year. Shock.

Nintendo pretty much owns the rest of the 2009 top 10, with only the 360 version of Madden and ODST making a dent. Not a single PS3 game made the list.

  1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)
  2. Wii Fit (Wii)
  3. Wii Sports Resort (Wii)
  4. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
  5. Wii Play (Wii)
  6. Halo 3: ODST (360)
  7. Pokemon Platinum (DS)
  8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
  9. Madden NFL 10 (360)
  10. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
