Star Ocean: The Last Hope International has spaceships, trailer proves it
There’s a new movie of Star Ocean: The Last Hope International on YouTube. It’s pretty.
The game’s out on February 4 in Japan, February 9 in the US and February 12 in EU.
Thanks, PS3A. Can we stop now?

it’s looking good. But still i dislike the Japanese notion of having kids fighting in your party

It was also revealed some time ago that the PS3 version would have new characters and not just extra languages on the disc.

Does anyone else feel the desire to set every single one of those characters on fire?

That’s news to me.

It was said in an official Square Enix newsletter that it would have “additional characters” apparently.

Huh. Intriguing.
To the best of my knowledge, it hasn’t been mentioned anywhere else (but I could be entirely wrong about that). It’s surprising to see them stating that considering that every press release up to now hasn’t mentioned any changes beyond slight cosmetic enhancements.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

The PS3 version of the game will be out in February 2010 and will feature additional languages and additional characters in the hopes that you’ll make this title an addition to your game collection.

Characters =/= playable characters =P.
@ mington the plot is crap, other than that it’s a good game. far from tri-Ace best (like SO The Second Story), but still plenty of fun. gameplay wise it’s about as decent as Till The End of Time.

oops
i’m a getting mixed up
i bought two games at the same time:
Rogue Galaxy by Level 5 (loved that game, and actually almost finished it, which is good for me)
and
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria by tri ace (worst inventory system EVER!!!! i liked the 2d concept, but i found it almost unplayable…. actually i found it UNPLAYABLE as i stop playing coz i couldn’t get my head around all the party/inventory shit)
oh well, i wont be playing star ocean then
whens the next level 5 game out…

I really liked Valykrie Profile 2. Rogue Galaxy was crap at first, then it got much better, then it went on for far too long and got seriously boring.

btw, VP2 Silmeria was pretty hardcore. one of the hardest and time consuming games I’ve played, but I’ve had fun playing it. one of my favourite PS2 jrpgs actually.
that WK game will be more like FFXII, and mostly multiplayer oriented. reminds me of .hack games as well.

i really wanted to like VPS
but i found myself 5 hours in, with a party of like ten people, constantly switch inventory items as they all had to be the same colour in the same line to get some stat multiplier. then you had to learn the sequence of your attacks and timing, the game required far to much training/learning/experimenting for me, when i just wanted to get on with the game, and not sat in a menu pissing about with my parties shoes

As i consider myself a ‘hardcore gamer’ i feel like i should play all these jrpgs, but in all honesty i never finish them, the three most recent ones i’ve played are
person 3
person 4
lost Odyssey
i must of easily spent 40 hours on each, but then i just completely lose interest then never play them again
i’ll wait for FF13 and see if i can manage to finish it…if i can’t i’ll never play a jrpg again….until ps3 person 5!!! whole shit that would be awesome, there i go again

I hope you diehards that love these jrpg eat this one up. Looks solid to me. Personialy I stopped enjoying these games years ago. Bad VO, poor stories, childern chars, reliance of over cliches, slow pace, restricted char development, etc etc. To me they have become an extension of the same game, stale and worn out. But at my age that is to be expected I guess. I used to love and I mean LOVE Dragon Warior(Quest) when I was a Youngergamer. I can see the apeal. But you get jaded with time, trust me.
Anyways between this and FF, this could be a big year for jrpg fans. Its nice to see a few jrpgs get off of the DS/PSP systems for a change. Enjoy your games, they are far and few between.

Unfortunately most people seem to think Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a load of old crap. Even the aforementioned JRPG diehards. Actually especially the aforementioned JRPG diehards. Wait for Vesperia.

aside from it’s plot SO4 is far from a load of crap, but no shit ToV is way better. in fact it is probably the best jrpg this gen, I highly doubt FF 13 will be even as good, let alone better.
I’m not sure ToV will be released for PS3 in EU though.

Doesn’t matter as long as it makes it to the US, right?

I loved VP:S. The inventory system is what did it for me. Finding a specific monster for a specific accessory to get a specific skill, thats what kept me going. Haven’t finished it since my PS2 died, but that and the combat I found excellent.

Umm… Shouldn’t that Xbox 360 tag be a PS3 one?
