Hawk: RIDE is not a gimmick

ride

Bony Tony’s continuing to stand by RIDE, despite the fact it’s been battered to death at review, saying he doesn’t feel the peripheral format is a “gimmick”.

“I feel like the device is a flagship for other games. I think we can do another skate game, I think we can do other board-type games, surfing, snowboarding. That really was the master plan,” he told Kotaku.

“I didn’t think it was some gimmick that people were going to have to buy again next year.”

Or any other year, from the look of it. Hit the link for the full thing.

Thanks, EG.

Why can’t he just give up, and accept it is a failure.

Problem with that is that will with say a snowboarding game, a snowboarding peripheral, same with surfing or any other board games.

I suggest Ironing Hero to help tap into the casual mum market.

According to this, then, the plan from the outset was for Hawk to shamelessly milk his own brand, in order that Acti would have something to package with their new board peripheral…Diabolical.
The issue, Mr. Hawk, is that the board is (said to be) not up to what’s asked of it, in a real-time play scenario. The game being (reportedly) a venture in ill-control, and aggravation.

Alternatively, the story reads like a radical inventor whose prototype has just spectacularly failed, and funding’s in danger of being withdrawn by its sponsors – oh, that was just a prototype guys, don’t worry, we’ll have the guys back at the lab run schematics and get back to you, with a new improved version, within the month! Don’t lose the faith, we’ll come good, I promise!…Except, Tony asked everyone to pay for his prototype that went tits up :(

Does he need the money that bad that he can’t admit failure?

RIDE not a gimmick?
Well, it may not be, but it is shit.
How about a video of you playing it and playing it well Mr Hawk?
How about we do a competitive video? You on one screen playing by standing on the board, and the other with someone sitting down just waving the board in the air eh?
