God of War III is “complete”

godofwarIII4

Sony director of development John Hight has told the US PS Blog that God of War III is “complete”. Awesome sauce.

“The entire game is complete – we’re not adding anything to it,” he said, adding: “We just made beta with the game so we’re doing a lot of play-testing, tuning the game to make sure that it’s fun, got the right level of complexity and of course optimised so that it runs super-smooth.”

It’s out in March. Get pumped. Interview after the break. Thanks, CVG.

Why, did he say something was racist again?

No, he met HipHopGamer and realised that he is not as gangster as he thought.

This is good news. They have roughly 3 months then for polish and tweaking. That’s the mark of developer who cares about quality.

Are they still going for 1080p 60fps?

It’s like a fucking moving painting man!!!!!
With some rough looking textures here and there. Yeah, Da Vinci liked a few rough areas on his paintings.

I hope Santa Monica managed to sort those out.

The demo version at the Expo certainly had a few framerate problems which you’d hope they’d sort out before release. Its worst problem was tearing, though – it tore like a bitch in some of the sequences. I’d rather they forgot 1080p and sorted out a nice smooth display.

If they pull it off though then that will take the cake. Sony’s first party games always take advantage of the PS3′s hardware when it’s one of their major titles.

But I would rather have a 720p native 60fps game with high res textures than a 1080p native 40-60fps game with ok textures.

@Blerk

Agreed.

DigitalFoundry did a test on the framerate and found that the frame rate never reached 60fps and occasionally dipped below 30fps.

I pray they work on making it 720p with a steady framerate. Santa Monica said they are working on never having it drop below 30 but i’d rather have it stay at 30 instead of straining to reach 60fps.

I don’t notice tearing, but the framerate was very wonky, never slow, just never consistent.

Why the hell would DigitalFoundry do a test on a damn demo that everyone could look and tell what the issues it had were. People will do anything to keep their jobs or make a buck these days I guess.

What I found odd was the camera angles. Moving the series to HD has made the real estate in screen space go up massively but the game is so happy with showing you sweeping vistas, giant monsters and detailing buildings that Kratos was a spec on the horizon most of the time. It doesn’t look much more advanced that God of War 2 in my opinion, with the exception that there is a lot more stuff on screen, so like prototype, it seemed to want more rather than the same but better.

#15

Eregol
11/12/09, 4:09 pm

I don’t recall ever seeing Kratos as a speck on the horizon on the demo.
*confused*

I noticed that too Hunam, but I liked that. It’s showig that this game is on a larger scale than before. You have to present the game this way now because you have the Titans roaming around. Plus its Mt.Olympus….need I say more.

Edit: Eregol is right, Kratos was never presented as an insect. He was large enough on the screen to make everything look like a movie that you have control over. Ex: Uncharted 2 when you go up into the mountains on the train.

My PS3 is plugged into a 60″ plasma. It’ll look like an animated painting but I wont have a hope in hell of finding Kratos!

Give it a rest.

DigitalFoundry were very complimentary in their analysis.

Agreed, if anything he was more prominent than in previous games.
To the point where most of the textures/polygons were used on him and the camera zoomed in during the corridor sections.

Give your blinkers a rest. Admit when there is an issue and don’t start dissing an article you have yet to read.

@Online
Exactly. I’ve played a bit of the GoW Collection and yeah, when the camera pans out it’s like watching a one man ant farm because the game is concentrating too much on the vista.
At the moment GoW3 is concentrating on the brutality, which means the camera needs to be up close and personal to show you in all it’s gory glory.

You know me well enough to know I do not have to rely on pesky facts to make my point! In my mind, if you have a bigger tv you get more screen space. Not sure why I thought that for a moment, I do have a cold though, lets blame that.

I have no idea what he’s on about PUD. He must work for those morons if he’s getting his panties in a bunch over morons doing test of a demo. Like people are going to read their article based on a demo and say, you know what I’m having second thoughts about buying this demo :P

Dumb asses really.

Didn’t Eurogamer do a 360 vs PS3 comparison on a demo?
Bayonetta?
Then again, the issues are more prevalent there than GoW3.
And Sony/Sega are patching Bayonetta anyway.

There you go again.

Calling respectable, smart analysts morons because they pointed out a small fault.

Heck… READ THE ARTICLE, they are actually very complimentary and point out that it is an early demo.

‘So, the frame-rate. Yes, it’s E3 code. Yes, there’s obviously a better-than-usual chance that the final code will improve over what we see in the demo’.

I loved the demo and I love my PS3 (there I said it, maybe you’ll be kinda now) but i’m not adverse to pointing out flaws with it.

ahh here they go guys crying once more. Hey mike I’m in a Sony article not saying anything about M$. What am I being Bias on?

Onlineatron they did test on a fucking demo and published it like people were going to base their purchase decisions on it. Why are they smart respectable analysts for doing something anyone can do just by looking at it themselves with their naked eyes.

You fucking Euros are the biggest pussies on the planet I swear.

Arrgh Tea!

I’m from England for one, not mainland Europe.

Secondly I know it was a demo analysis… hence why I posted that they pointed that out.

They are not trying to make people base their purchase decision on this, they are just giving people something to read about the demo they are enjoying.

don’t try to salvage your stupid argument now. It just proves you’re a bitch as well as a pussy. You defended dumb asses who tested a demo. It was a stupid thing to do. I heard the Left for dead2 demo had issues did they do an article about that demo?

“No because L4D2 is based on a several year old engine and not nearly as interesting or as competent as the God of War III engine.”

yea that’s all Valve does…we know…that’s why they won’t support the PS3.

I don’t have a problem..I’m dropping this topic now and hope Santa Monica puts out a triple A title that will leave people shock in awe…that’s all. I’m done.
