darksiders3

THQ’s outlined its Darksiders UK pre-order program this morning, with all participating retailers getting a slice of Vigil’s demonic pie, so to speak.

Basically:

  • All pre-order copies of Darksiders from GAME will receive a code to unlock an exclusive in-game weapon called ‘The Harvester’. This ornate scythe comes from the arsenal of Death himself and allows War to smite his foes from a distance with ease
  • Gamers’ who purchase their copy from PLAY.com will receive a unique unlock code for an exclusive War costume for their avatar on Xbox LIVE or Playstation®Home. This outfit will allow them to be the envy of all their friends as they take on the guise of a Horseman of the Apocalypse
  • Pre-ordering the game from Amazon will earn players a Ruin head mask for their Xbox LIVE avatar or Playstation®Home character. This mask can be equipped with any outfit and will definitely help your character stand out from the crowd
  • Copies of the game purchased from Gamestation will come with an exclusive Darksiders comic book expanding the back story of the game. Drawn by famous ex-Marvel artist and Vigil Games creative lead Joe Madureira, this is an absolute must have for comic collectors
  • Any pre-orders placed with HMV will receive an exclusive Your Last Centrefold calendar

The game, which really is starting to look very awesome, releases for PS3 and 360 on January 8. Get the pull PR after the break.

Is it just me, or are pre-order incentives going nuts? Why have different things with different retailers?

It’s especially annoying when you’re a foreigner who imports , and got no way to do so with the major players that are bestbuy , gamestop etc …

Those things should just be available for pre orders from any shop

Totally agree, it is getting nuts. I guess they’re all desperate for your money they’ll offer you anything to get you to buy it from them…

Theres no real need to get all that flustered THQ usually release exclusive DLC awhile after launch for free.

e.g. DoW 2. All the individual store pre-order bonuses were released for that for free a couple of months after release.

Just buy the game from where ever you normally buy from.

Apart from the comic book from HMV obviously.

As far as I know, The Harvester is a secondary weapon that you can buy from the in-game store. Anyone should be able to nab it. On the other hand it will set you back a few thousand souls, which is a lot of moolah.

It’s not about thq i’m bugged , it’s the way things are generally handled now

I import for a reason , in my local stores games cost more than 100 dollars in regular editions .Not to mention that i dont need more than an english version and some pbulishers still like to dub the voices without adding the choice for audio , only subs .

What am i supposed to do then when the only few online store delivering here dont have such deals ? hell they couldnt even get access to some collector in a few rare but increasing cases , because of deals between retail stores and publishers

Used to be that preordering , especially collectors was enough … now we are asked to go to precise stores …

And no not everything get eventually released . Some physical extras never make it through , and mlany dlcs are released far far later , at a cost .

You’re like me and wanted that nice tekken parka ? Well tough it was only in selected stores … or resold at a far higher price by ebay vultures

Stores like gamestop have been a huge pain even since digital services like Steam et d2d really took off . They basically asphyxiate smaller stores with deals other cant follow , and restrain freedom …

I know i’m an odd case as a buyer , but still my money still counts , as well as many doing like me , and it aint good for anyone when they keep prgressively taking more freedom of choice away .. slowly eroding it .
