Dante’s Inferno PS3 gets demo today and Divine Edition; 360 doesn’t
EA just announced a PS3-exclusive Divine Edition for Dante’s Inferno, including developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the game’s soundtrack and a digital version of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, all for the standard retail price of $60.
The PS3 version of the game’s demo hits PSN today in the US, followed by the 360 version on December 24. Both versions will release in Europe on December 24.
“We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers,” said EP Jonathan Knight.
“The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th.”
Take that, 360 owners. Hit the link for the full announcement.

The ‘special edition’ mania gets… even weirder. I realise this game’s going to be a harder sell to the PS3 crowd, but platform exclusive special editions? Really? Has it come to this?

Maybe there is some market research or trend indicating that PS3 owners are more likely to spend the extra cash of a premium edition over 360 players.

that’s pretty stupid why wouldn’t you do it for both consoles. I could see if it was a Blu-ray movie game hybrid but its not (which it should be!).
They must feel they have to kiss PlayStation fans ass because of GoW3 LMAO!
Kratos vs Dante?
Doesn’t matter cause I’m getting both day 1

@3
They said that it’ll come at the standard retail price.
I havent really been looking into this game that much, think i’ll wait and see what reviews make of it. If i do decide to get though i’ll more then likely import this edition.

if anything, they should be pimping the beejeezus out of the 360 version, as those are the only guys that really “need” this game.
Then again, Bayonetta. Poor Dante, sent to die.

Dante’s Inferno really isn’t anything like Bayonetta. They’re totally different types of games.

Yea I agree with Blerk, Bayonetta is more arcadey while Dante is more platform action consoley

@Quiick, onlineatron – exclusive to GAME (according to retailer listing). They’re calling it the Death Edition on there, though, and charging ten quid more…and, there’s a 360 version, too, while also included in the package is a Dead Space in-game costume for Dante.

Oh c’mon guys, this has been done to fill space on the blu-ray disc, that’s all. That’s why it’s so “exclusive”. On a DVD it would difficult to do, unless they compress the hell out of the extra content or include an extra DVD which they have to pay royalties for. I bet the 360 will include this in an extra DVD if a special edition is made for the console.
EDIT: Really, like Tretton said months ago, nothing’s exclusive (only first party of course).
EDIT#2: Oh yeah, dev commentaries would be hard to include on an extra DVD, unless they get installed on the HDD.

Why?

Exactly, why Blerk? GOW3?….I don’t think so and don’t try to use the first weeks NPD sales as proof because if the 360 does sell more units it won’t be by a million stretch.
This game will be good and I hope E.A. does some good marketing for it on both sides.

It’ll be a harder sell to PS3 owners because it’s a blatant God of War clone, and it’s being released really very near to God of War 3. I’m not saying it won’t be a good game (it is a good game, I’ve played it), but it’s a no-brainer for 360 owners because they don’t have a choice. PS3 owners are going to take more convincing to pick up the supermarket own-brand God of War as opposed to the pedigree version, I’d imagine.

Oh ok, I totally hear you on that point Blerk.
I thought the graphics and presentation of Dante’s Inferno demo were good, but yes, it’s a 100% GOW clone to the tee.
The gameplay is so stale and having to fight 30-40 enemies non-stop on one screen is now old, boring, and very repetive to me.
Based on the demo, I’m no longer interested in this game.
