Modern Warfare 2 hack on PS3 allows impossible scores

Looks like naughty hackers struck the Modern Warfare 2 leaderboards on PS3, apparently, and implanted cheaters at the top of the lists with massive play time figures ranging in the tens of thousands of days.
That’s unpossible!
While Activision or Infinity Ward has yet to comment on whether the boards will be reset, it is unlikely a ban will go into effect by Sony, as it has already said that Javelin Glitch cheaters would not be banned.
Whether this particular offense warrants a ban in Sony’s eyes or not remains to be seen, but we’d dosomething akin to NCsoft if left up to us.
More through CVG.

Looking at the leader boards you can tell its full of statpadders.
And whats with the precision leader board?: Get one headshot first time you play then never play again and you’re first?

I didnt even notice statpadders in CoD4 if there were any. Its pretty obvious in MW2 though… What with a nuke ending the game every time.
Cant really say campers are any different though, i’m just annoyed that IW didnt tweak any of the weapons to make them less ‘camp friendly’; Assault rifes (all of them) fire perfectly straight and with stopping power enought bullets to kill before any recoil kicks in just like in CoD4 so pretty much anyone can camp around like a sniper and hit a target at the other side of the map. The way the weapons are just allow camping.

A camper is easily found guys you just got to be careful when going round corners thats where they mainly are. And whats a statpadder?

Statpadders are people who cheat to raise their stats and/or to certain stuff. Say a guy plays on TF141 and a friend of his is on Spetznaz: The guy on Spetznaz will run to his friend on the other team and let him kill him so that he can rack up kills normally till 25 so that he can do the nuke.
Right now i think i’ve only came across one single legit nuke where no statpadding or glitching was being used.
Ofcourse its not just to do the nuke, people statpad to get better positions in the leaderboards or just to speed up their unlocking of stuff to.

It’s not even a case of statpadding – the first 3000+ scores are all hacked scores requiring no play time whatsoever.

so far, I’ve come across 3 cheaters which were using bots for doing so, and it was all on the PC version.
even the lowest of lives have pride and dignity. I can’t understand what logic makes those ppl use cheats and hacks in an online game which will ruin it for everyone.
And I can’t understand why there are ppl working their arses off to create those hacks and bots for these low life creatures. I bet those ppl are so low in their reallife just as they are in their virtual life.Bathetic and Pathetic.

Prolly not a popular idea, but to be honest I would enjoy seing the leaderboard aproach to most games changed. I honestly don’t care how many kills/frags/points or whatever a player gets. I think it promotes cheating and glitching. I do like the idea of rankings. And nope not the same type of thing. I like Bad Company and Halo style rankings, I think CoD uses it too? Where you only get matched up against players with your similar rankings. Therefore if a player power levels, good for them, they only end up hurting themself, because if they achive a high rank, and they can’t actualy play at that rank, they will end up getting owned by better players that not only earned that rank, but can indeed play at that rank. I just don’t see the point in state based leaderboards. Big deal if some fool spends 50 hours a week playing CoD. When its you vs him, those stats won’t help him one dang bit. Unless:
Your playing a perk based MP CoD game. Which is one of the biggest reasons I don’t play a CoD game. I hate the unbalancing that perk do to the game. This story is just the latest example of that.
Go Battlefield!! Sorry G1GA

Never been worried about my stats. Don’t get worried about stats when I enjoy LBP or Uncharted 2 so why should I for this? Let them have their fun, especially since Activision think it’s worth £55.

No problem with that at all if that’s what you prefer, OG.
It’s true that one of the worst things about CoD MP for new players is that you get thrown in at the deep end right from the get-go.
You bring up a good idea that I really like about only playing against players of similar ranks, but it has its flaws.
What would I do if me and my friends were top rank and we wanted to play a team game with one of our friends who’d never played the game before and was bottom rank?
What about the top rank guys who make a new account just to pwn all of the new guys at the bottom rank?
What about match making? What if I’m middle rank, and 90% of the people are either top or bottom rank? I might find it very difficult to get a game depending on where in the world I am, what time zone I’m in and what spare time I have to play the game.
It’s a tricky one to solve.
