Modern Warfare 2 maintains grip on UK chart
Another week, another number one for Modern Warfare 2 in the UK. This is its third number one.
Assassin’s Creed II’s dropped off a place there, down to three. FIFA replaces it in second.
Data below for the week ending December 5. Last week’s chart here.

Will be interesting to see if it can keep hold of the #1 spot over Xmas or if the likes of Fifa 10 / Wii Sports Resort will shift it off with all the Xmas purchases.

Based on the first week numbers and percentages since for MW2 we have the following insanity…
1 – 1,780,000
2 – 249,000 (-86%)
3 – 169,000 (-32%)
4 – 158,000 (-7%)
Total: 2,356,000 (PS3 & 360)
The story not told by the combined formats is that this week, Nintendo have the top three of the individual formats to themselves:
01 – New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo)
02 – Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
03 – Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)

completely bonkers! Over hyped and over rated imo but hey I think I might be in a small minority.

Having played both MW2 and the Bad Company 2 beta, all I can say is that MW2 is like a child’s game compare to BC2. And the sad thing is that BC2 wont even achieve half of its sales…

For as long as I live I will never understand the enduring appeal of Mario Kart Wii. Awful, awful game.

I’m with you Dannybuoy (if yr talking about mw2).
I just can’t get on with it at all, got about 5 levels in, switched it off and haven’t been back.

yeah MW2. It just feels like an on rails shooter. Something not quite working when compared to MW1, can’t put my finger on it. I loved Bad Company. Now that was a good game. Number 2 should rock as hard as the sound effects are loud!

To say it properly bombed is an understatement.
How? All formats chart.. it didn’t chart. At all.
Even DJ Hero charted, which I thought bombed when it was released charted into the top 20.
On the PS3 and 360 charts, I’ll get back to you on that.

It didn’t chart in the PS3 chart.
On the 360 charts, it entered at 31.

For shame, 360 owners! Have you no taste?

I see 32 on the 360 charts and 29 on the PS3 charts.
(You know, it’s strange that the 360 has a top 40 and the PS3 only has a top 30)

just a function of the install base psycho. I used to work in a retail games store and it’s just that more people own and buy xbox games and at least when i was working there (over 2 years ago now) there were far more games for the xbox then the PS3.

Well, there’s that, but you’d figure that there have to be at least 40 PS3 games selling at any one time, even if the final ten are pretty insignificant numbers.
Their PC chart only has 20 entries for whatever reason.

Because there are only 20 PC games.
