Mass Effect 2 to ship on two discs
BioWare’s confirmed that Mass Effect 2 will arrive on two discs, with the 360 version featuring a disc swap during play.
“Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once,” Chris Priestly, community coordinator of BioWare, said on the game’s forum.
“You do not swap back and forth. One swap and then done.”
The PC version’s a two-disc install.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Now I’ll have two disks of awesomeness instead of just one! =D
Still, although I doubt it will happen till the end of this generation, the DVD format is really starting to show it’s flaws.

Swapping in a second disc half way through isn’t exactly a big deal. The moaners obviously don’t remember the ST/Amiga versions of the early LucasArts adventures.

@Blerk
Too true – I was reminded the other day that Beneath a Steel Sky on Amiga came with 15 discs.
15!

Ooooh Happy Dance. Not for the disc swapping but that the game will obviously be larger then the first. I am not sure how I missed this. As long as I don’t have to disc swap to go back to previous areas I could care less how many discs it is.

maybe it’s because i grew up playing games like final fantasy 7 (or more recently, lost odyssey). But i just don’t see a big deal in this.
If anything it excites me that this game is gonna be so big it won’t fit on a 9 gig DVD.

I prefered how square did it especially after the twist such as when Cloud confronts Sephi in the promised land or when Squall fails assassinating Ultimecia. IT was the big twist then ending of the chapter then a screen that says Load DIsc 2. Good times.

Someone obviously never had a PC before they came with large HDDs.
