Sony not banning MW2 “Javelin” glitch users

because they’re not losing any money and PSN users have tons of other great online games they can play for free until IW patches MW2.

On the 360 side XBOTS pay to play only 4 games online. MW2,Halo3,GTA4,and Gears. If shadow run had exploits I doubt M$ would be banning anyone.

I think waiting for a fix is a better idea. Because you also lose access to all downloaded games and DLC tied to your PSN ID if it gets banned.

Hey… regardless of the time period. It’s not their fault, they bought the game the now retain the right to play that game how it was designed.

If it was designed with a glitch… then they should be allowed to use that until IW fix it.

Noone really “designs” a glitch…
Its Microsoft enforcing the bans and I believe that Microsoft wants to ensure that their customers (all of them, not just the glitchers) have a good time, and if that means cracking down on glitchers doing things that are annoying, so be it.

But over a silly glitch… I’m not so sure I see the point in it, it’s Infinity Wards fault for not recognising the glitch before shipping.

Cheating is bullshit its really getting to me more and more the games are filling up with people who just want to cheat the only way you can play and have fun is private games with friends anymore. All the ball sniffin cheaters can say is ah they should have not let it be in the game do you know how long its in testing before they put it out they should just postpone it for a couple of years to make sure all the kinks are out so you have to play fair or you could get a hobby/job/girlfriend/wash ur ass/etc.. and not sit around and try to find exploits all day

@onlineatron: What you’ve said there is part of the reason I rarely play online these days. You can sugar coat it however you want, but exploiting a bug in the game is basically cheating… and it’s shit for anyone that wants to play properly / fairly.

I’d say it should be down to IW at their end to punish cheaters through their stats rather then MS and Sony through banning.

But it would be fruitless for Sony to ban people… As the PSN is free and a banned user could easily create a new account to do it again.

Just because a game has a glitch in it does not mean that that glitch SHOULD be exploited. IW intended for the game to be played in a certain way, and that is how it should be played, regardless of any methods of circumventing the intended use. A ‘game’, taken generally, becomes conceptually incoherent once a different rule-set is used by a proportion of the userbase. And MS are right to ban because they are responsible for whatever content appears on thier platform. Sony should do much the same…except the way their system is set up, it would make no difference. It seems anything goes on the PSN.

I dont know about htat.. R2 60 players, R1 40 payers, Warhak 30 no lag.. even a demo such as GT5Porlogue has no lag with 12-16 cars.. U2 no lag..

I remeber halo 3 had lag, especially GOW2 .. just because you pay don’t mean you will have NO lag issue or less lag.. even WoW gets LAG!

In reality Microsofts LIVE is more laggy over PSN because Xbox Live mostly uses P2P servers where PS3 most games use Dedicated servers.. with dedicated every fucking idiot knows that you get less lag over P2P servers!

second dedicated servers aren’t always better look at left 4 dead 2 you couldn’t even play it online for the first week on the dedicated server because of the lag it depends on the server
Gears sucks because of P2P because of host advantage and the fact that their ping is 200ms

Maybe I don’t understand. Is internet really that bad in the UK? Are people really honestly having trouble on a massive scale with LIVE or it is just Tea being Tea again?
Because I play on PSN and LIVE both. I rarely have problems on either. The biggest difference I notice is that download speeds on my PS3 are much slower then the same amount of info downloaded on my xb360. I can live with that. From time to time I also notice some games have less players per game in them on PSN then they do on LIVE. I noticed this big time on Bad Company. Even now LIVE has full games going on around the clock(lest the hours I am awake) and the PS3 version does not. It isn’t uncommon to find 4 vs 5 on PSN when on LIVE it was 12 vs 12(pre and post MW2 btw). I have the same problem in Warhawk too. Less then full games. Also in Fat Princess too. I always attributed it to the shear numbers playing LIVE. Nothing more or less. I am hoping it picks up after Xmass. I know PS3s are selling very well localy.
As for LIVE. I can’t remember the last time I had trouble with lag in a game. Honestly. I think two years ago LIVE went down and stuttered just after Xmass. It happens. But recently? Nope no probs. Esp once in a game. I have never seen my kids having trouble in Halo or in Gears. Tea, what the heck are you talking about? I have seen players manualy manipulate their routers, esp in Halo. But I have seen the samething in KZ2. And those are case by case incedents, not something on a massive scale.
Advice, Tea, chill. You don’t have to defend the PS3. It doesn’t need you to be a white knight. It is going just fine by itself. Its not perfect, neither is the xb360(I hate the adverts). It is what it is. Either that or I am missing something.

I don’t see any effectiveness in Sony attempting to ban people. As it’s free to register accounts and play games online on PlayStation network a ban would be about 5 minutes of inconvenience to a comitted cheater.

That’s why when they ban, they ban the console, not the account. (Temporarily, or permanently)
