It should just be the logo on a white background. Like Euro FF box art should be. That’s ‘classy’. Groin shots are not classy.

Maybe they’ll release an overpriced Special Edition with the proper artwork?

Anyway, this isn’t as vulgar as half of the U.S. covers, so I guess the EU should be happy about that. See FFX-2 for a prime example.

What’s with the stigma on Jap btw? It’s identical to Brit, or Scot (and others)… but it seems to offend people. Does it have some historical baggage?

I’m guessing people from Scunthorpe wouldn’t like to be called a Scunt. And the less said about the people from Cockermouth, the better. Actually their full version isn’t too good either.

I think the Americans used Jap as a slur. Us brits have never had a problem with them though, so I guess we don’t intend it as offensive but the Americans would think we’re being crass.

I just made most of that up though.

I’d wager that most of the younger generations wouldn’t have a clue about all that though… so perhaps some slack to be cut?

This. I’ll take the basic logo on white over lazy photo-shopping any day. And my collection won’t match anymore if they do this! *laughs*

If I want to refer to the Japanese version of something there is nothing wrong with me shortening it to Jap.

But this boxart pleases me. I’m more than happy with it.

What does the cover tell me about the game, and what’s the importance of this thoroughly disinteresting character, anyway? It’s awful.

US News Papers circa 1941 titled:

Japs Attack Pearl Harbor type stuff. There after, yes Jap was used as slang/slur. Right or wrong it is the type of thing that stuck around. In the case at hand it wasn’t intended as such a slur and yes slack should be cut, IMO.

Hopefully the US boxart looks nothing like this. I prefer the Original styling.
