FFXIII boxart officially revealed

FFXIII Logo

Square Enix has lifted the wraps of what appears to be the Japanese boxart of Final Fantasy XIII

It’s now live on the Square Enix shop to look at. It’s here.

Apparently, it was meant to be something like this, but now, it seems, it was just a placeholder.

This could be the boxart for the UK and EU as well, if past boxarts are anything to go by, so don’t be surprised to see the same cover when it releases here next spring.

The game is out in Japan on December 17 for PS3.

Cage: “We need to fight a little bit” for Austrailan Heavy Rain release

heavyraina

Quantic Dream head David Cage has revealed that the studio will “need to fight a little bit” for the Austrailan release of Heavy Rain.

Speaking at the Eurogamer Expo in his Q&A session in London on Saturday, Cage said:

“For Australia, at the moment as far as I know, they take the game as it is. So I don’t know, but I think we need to fight a little bit for that and evangelise.

“We haven’t had this discussion yet. We have to make some cuts for certain territories, honestly they’ve been – so far – quite minor cuts. So there is nothing where I felt like, ‘oh my entire experience has totally changed because I had to make those changes.”

The game is out next year for the PS3.

Insomniac: We can now perform tricks with the PS3

Ratchet & Clank ACiT

Speaking with Videogamer, Insomniac’s James Stevenson has revealed that they are now so familiar, they can do “tricks” with the PS3.

Can you teach it to sit? Fetch? Roll over? Thought not. But Stevenson did say:

“After we get it off and running and we have a game or two released, three, four years into the lifecycle of consoles is where it starts to get exciting. Now we know how to ride that bicycle and we can start performing tricks on it.”

Stevenson also revealed how they had to rebult the Ratchet & Clank series for the PS3 after the series’ PS2 illiterations.

“We had to rebuild Ratchet for PS3. All that stuff we took for granted: the move set, the animations, the character, the crates, everything that works on PS2, had to be redone for PS3.”

Find more through the link. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time is out in the US now, while the game gets an EU/UK release this week

First day Japanese PSPgo sales come in at 28k

pspgo3

According to Famitsu, the PSPgo has sold over 28k since it on sale yesterday in Japan. The exact figures were 28,275 units.

Sunday was the last day in Famitsu’s parent company Enterbrain weekly tracking period, although as the site points, the DSi and PSP-3000 both launched in a two day period, and sold extremely well at that point.

Make of that as you will.

Thanks, Andriasang.

Report – Kameo 2 was in development at Rare, now canned

Kameo

According to a report from CVG, Kameo 2 was in development at Rare, but was subsequently canned because of the company’s restructure and switch to development of Project Natal.

Bad sales of the original game, which was a launch title for the 360 back in 2005, is known to be a factor of why the sequel was canned, apparently.

The report also suggests there was another known series getting a new edition at Rare alongside Kameo 2, but that was also canned.

Could that have been Perfect Dark Zero 2? Or even Killer Instinct?

We’ll leave an email with Rare anyways to see what they say.

Rumour – GT5 to get track editor [Update]

gt5

Update: SCEE’s just offered VG247 this response.

“We haven’t confirmed this and aren’t offering any other comment at this time.”

Original Story: According to E4G, Polyphony has confirmed that a track editor will be available in Gran Turismo 5. At least, thats what the developer could have said to the site.

Anyways, you will be able to either fully edit from scratch, or just edit the tracks already there, apparently.

“Yes it will have a track editor. You will be able to rebuild a track from scratch or edit the tracks that are already put in Gran Turismo 5,” said a rep from PD to the site.

The force is telling us something is wrong with this, hence why this is labeled as a rumour, so we’ve emailed SCEE to confirm or deny this.

Via TSA.

Thanks, Gekidami.
