NCsoft whacks 16,000 Aion users for botting and RMT

Take that, Aion cheats. NCsoft’s rebooted its Aion servers and taken the opportunity to ban 16,000 users for botting and real money offences.

“If your account was closed for the use of 3rd party software (botting) or participating in RMT (gold buying/selling) the evidence for the account closure was gathered over several weeks,” said the firm in this forum post.

“It may be completely unrelated to what your character was doing right when your account was closed.”

Be warned. Read the full thing through the link.

  1. This could be an annual thing, Banvember where all the cheats and pirates get simultaneously booted off whatever they’re cheating or pirating.

If MMOs were a little bit less cookie cutter like world of borecraft where everything is based around loot, then there would be no need for gold farmers.

Loot or character based there will always be a “black market” for MMOs in one way or another just because of nature of a persistant world..

I play this game. I have also purchased gold. The game was so stingy and death happened no less than 5-10 times each login. Until I purchased gold and was able to actually get some good gear. Then the game became a lot of fun. I was still playing the exact same way, except now I wasn’t dieing all the time. We had our group as always of the same people. I don’t see how this effect anyones gameplay or the economy in the game. It just made the game tolerable and fun to be able to not die or have a 5 hour grind so that you can buy something.. and by that time you no longer need/can use/benefit from. Btw, every person in our group feels the same way.
