VGAs: Uncharted 2, AssCreed 2, Batman, MW2, and L4D2 are GOTY noms

Uncharted 2 or Batman: Arkham Asylum for GOTY tbfh. Astounding games.

MW2′s a superb game but hardly ground breaking when compared to it’s predecessor, COD 4. Same engine, just new guns, maps and an upgrade in the graphical effects. Will no doubt win though :/

Haven’t played Left for Dead 2 but understand its’ v.good.

It’ll either be Uncharted or MW2. Got to be, innit.

I haven’t played Assassins Creed 2 yet, so I haven’t voted.

Uncharted 2 for me, really enjoyed Batman and still enjoying MW2 but Mr Drake gets my vote…

This is a bit of a fanboy fest really.
I mean they wont be voting on the game, more like the platform its on.

reask, if thats how you judge what your favourite game is, then thats what matters to the voter.

It’s not like decisions made on the VGAs have ever been universally agreed with.

Haven’t played AC2 and can’t play L4D2 (only have a PS3), so can only vote for one of the other three and Uncharted 2 was my favourite.

Can’t vote for ‘Best DLC’ either as I haven’y got Fallout 3 and the other two are 360 exclusives…

As for the performance categories, no Nolan North? No vote.

After finishing MW2 the first thing that entered my mind was….UC2 GOTY…NO FUCKING CONTEST!

uncharted 2 I think.

I just got AC2 yesterday and its just like MW2 in the respect that its just the same game really with minor improvements. Its fun and great but nothing that has made me go WOW! so far. Batman AA was a fresh breath of air from all these damn shooters and I hope they walk away with some kind of an award.

But the best gaming experience I truly had this year was with Uncharted 2. This game is what next gen is about story,graphics,and gameplay wise. Its a fucking quadruple A title. If you haven’t played it yet then your opinion doesn’t matter and I’m directing that to G1GAHURTZ personally.

Nolan North is the voice actor to almost every lead star in a game now. WTF, he’s even the voice of Desmond Miles, the main character in AC2.

Uncharted 2 ftw way better then MW 2

Yeah, I voted for him under Best Voice but that kind of sells him short, what with the whole mo-cap thing he did for the Uncharted games. Their nominations for the male/female performances seem to be aimed at established actors/actresses who have deemed our little games worthy of their attention…

And if I had to vote for a multi-platform title, it would be Arkham Asylum. Bloody great game.

I chose Gow 3 for most anticipated and Naughty Dog for best studio and Uncharted 2 for every category it was in lol

Runaway winner = Modern Borefare 2. Deserved? Hardly.

GOW3 as most anticipated for me, played the demo for a bit and can’t wait for the real deal.

If i was top speculate about the announcements. Id say Kane and Lynch 2 worlds first showing something like that. Resistance 3 and David jaffes new game.

MW2 deserves nothing. Activision has already gotten their awards from all the sheep who follows trends too much….and to think I almost bought that stupid Prestige Edition.

..and the award for most hyped game of 2009 goes to MW2…followed by KZ2.

Just finished the first Uncharted so if Uncharted 2 is like that or better I’m voting Uncharted 2.

There is the propsect for tons of announcements this year. We know tons about 2010 games, but not tons of late 2010 Natal/Wand games. Not to get excited about that, but still.

This is a tough one… Personally I LOVE MW2, it’s addicting as hell (the multi player). I think a lot of you people just hate on the game the same way people hate on Microsoft. Because it’s so big and is the biggest money grabber.

I also loved Uncharted 2! but I won’t get the replay value out of that game because to me that game is all about the single player. Also, I am actually on a toss up between U2 and Infamous. I loved them both, however, but are only Single player value for me with little replay.

Ass Creed, I don’t even think should be nominated. It will get strong votes because it’s newer and people always forget the ones earlier in the year.

Batman, GREAT game, but no replay value got 90% of everything on first pass thru.

I settled on SC2 for most anticipated, because I have been anticipating it for the longest amount of time – since the mid-late 90′s.

I didn’t give MW2 a vote for anything, not my thing, no interest.

Umm Mushroom you are misleading people because UC2 has multi play as well. Its not basically all SP. The MP is just as good as MW2 dispite them both being different genres and I happen to like UC2 MP better because skill is actually rewarded unlike MW2 cowardice camper rewarding.

Plus I don’t think your opinion matters at default because you don’t buy your games you pirate them. Keep stealing…you have a lot of class playa.

Tea I think you over read into Mushies post. I agree with a coupl eof points from you both. But I think your just being a tad instigative.

Basicly all he was saying was based on the SP and the MP, for him MW2 wins out. He also said he liked U2. For the most part i agree with what he said. ‘Cept I don’t like MW2. I am more of a BattleField type of guy. But his points are well taken. I am not too sure how you could get him being a xbox fanboy over that post. I don’t know about him stealing games/downloading or hacking them. But I get upset when game companies steal my money with over priced games that end up failing short of the hype. But then again I tend to be jaded and cynicale.

I went and voted. Was neat.

If I had my choice I would have voted for Fat Princess as Game Of The Year. Its maybe the only game this year that I didn’t see coming and far exceded my expectations. And for only 15usd? Toss in 31 offline bots? Yea my GOTY right there. But what do I know, right?

Uncharted 2 got my vote, because it is the best game i’ve played this year. MW2 is great, but it won’t get my vote for game of the year, because they dumbed down the PC version and the singleplayer was way to short for my liking.

Uncharted 2 SHOULD win.. but the ultra fanboism of MW2 will prevail and take the award.

Hell Assassins Creed so far for me is definatly a strong 2nd place. Hell of a game so far compared to the first one for sure.

Sad but true Tea. Seems that the system with the largest user base(that goes to vote) gets the nod. I fully expect MW2 to win tho. Too many people from both of the big systems play that one.

A few problems with the voting on Spikes site.

1. Best PC game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Batman:AA as a voting option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

2. Best handheld game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Little Big Planet as an option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

3. Best multiplayer game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Uncharted 2 as a voting option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

4. Best performance human male category DOES NOT INCLUDE Uncharted 2′s Nolan North (did live motion capture and voice acting) or Batman:AA’s Batman (not sure if these would actually qualify though).

These are my only complaints.

I also say Batman:AA or U2 will take GOTY (righfully so).

Whichever out of those two I don’t care who wins. As long as it’s not MW2. This award ceremony doesn’t matter anymore.
I can’t wait until we get a sequel to Batman AA though because it gave the Batman name justice in the world of video games finally.

As much as I love North’s work on the Uncharted games, Hammill’s Joker was some damned fine voice acting too. It’s got to be one of those two.

It is stupid really I mean what chance has UC when the 360 install base is much higher.
