Uncharted 2 or Batman: Arkham Asylum for GOTY tbfh. Astounding games.

MW2′s a superb game but hardly ground breaking when compared to it’s predecessor, COD 4. Same engine, just new guns, maps and an upgrade in the graphical effects. Will no doubt win though :/

Haven’t played Left for Dead 2 but understand its’ v.good.

    #1 6 years ago
  2. Patrick Garratt

It’ll either be Uncharted or MW2. Got to be, innit.

    #2 6 years ago
  3. No_PUDding

    I haven’t played Assassins Creed 2 yet, so I haven’t voted.

    #3 6 years ago
  4. Detale

Uncharted 2 for me, really enjoyed Batman and still enjoying MW2 but Mr Drake gets my vote…

    #4 6 years ago
  5. No_PUDding

    Easily will be MW2 Pat… Ee-See-Lee.

    #5 6 years ago
  6. reask

This is a bit of a fanboy fest really.
I mean they wont be voting on the game, more like the platform its on.

    #6 6 years ago
  7. No_PUDding

reask, if thats how you judge what your favourite game is, then thats what matters to the voter.

It’s not like decisions made on the VGAs have ever been universally agreed with.

EDIT: How many of you are voting without playign all the games. I wasn’t gonna play MW2, but… Should I vote now, without Assassins Creed 2?

    #7 6 years ago
  8. reask

No but I am just saying like what 360 only owner is going to vote UC2.

None I would say is the answer.
So the awards are pretty meaningless imo.

    #8 6 years ago
  9. Detale

Haven’t played AC2 and can’t play L4D2 (only have a PS3), so can only vote for one of the other three and Uncharted 2 was my favourite.

Can’t vote for ‘Best DLC’ either as I haven’y got Fallout 3 and the other two are 360 exclusives…

As for the performance categories, no Nolan North? No vote.

    #9 6 years ago
  10. theevilaires

After finishing MW2 the first thing that entered my mind was….UC2 GOTY…NO FUCKING CONTEST! :D

    #10 6 years ago
  11. No_PUDding

Nolan North is nominated under ‘Best Voice’.

Best 360 game is easily Forza 3!

    #11 6 years ago
  12. Monk

    uncharted 2 I think.

    #12 6 years ago
  13. theevilaires

I just got AC2 yesterday and its just like MW2 in the respect that its just the same game really with minor improvements. Its fun and great but nothing that has made me go WOW! so far. Batman AA was a fresh breath of air from all these damn shooters and I hope they walk away with some kind of an award.

But the best gaming experience I truly had this year was with Uncharted 2. This game is what next gen is about story, graphics, and gameplay wise. Its a fucking quadruple A title. If you haven’t played it yet then your opinion doesn’t matter and I’m directing that to G1GAHURTZ personally.

    #13 6 years ago
  14. theevilaires

Nolan North is the voice actor to almost every lead star in a game now. WTF, he’s even the voice of Desmond Miles, the main character in AC2.

    #14 6 years ago
  15. The Hindle

Uncharted 2 ftw way better then MW 2

    #15 6 years ago
  16. Detale

Yeah, I voted for him under Best Voice but that kind of sells him short, what with the whole mo-cap thing he did for the Uncharted games. Their nominations for the male/female performances seem to be aimed at established actors/actresses who have deemed our little games worthy of their attention…

And if I had to vote for a multi-platform title, it would be Arkham Asylum. Bloody great game.

    #16 6 years ago
  17. freedoms_stain

    I can’t choose a most anticipated game :s

    #17 6 years ago
  18. The Hindle

I chose Gow 3 for most anticipated and Naughty Dog for best studio and Uncharted 2 for every category it was in lol

    #18 6 years ago
  19. Panipal2005

Runaway winner = Modern Borefare 2. Deserved? Hardly.

    #19 6 years ago
  20. Detale

GOW3 as most anticipated for me, played the demo for a bit and can’t wait for the real deal.

    #20 6 years ago
  21. The Hindle

If i was top speculate about the announcements. Id say Kane and Lynch 2 worlds first showing something like that. Resistance 3 and David jaffes new game.

    #21 6 years ago
  22. theevilaires

MW2 deserves nothing. Activision has already gotten their awards from all the sheep who follows trends too much….and to think I almost bought that stupid Prestige Edition.

..and the award for most hyped game of 2009 goes to MW2…followed by KZ2.

    #22 6 years ago
  23. satsugai

Just finished the first Uncharted so if Uncharted 2 is like that or better I’m voting Uncharted 2.

    #23 6 years ago
  24. No_PUDding

Heh. Just you wait ['Enry 'Iggins], just you wait.

    Oh dear.

There is the propsect for tons of announcements this year. We know tons about 2010 games, but not tons of late 2010 Natal/Wand games. Not to get excited about that, but still.

    #24 6 years ago
  25. Jadeskye

pretty obvious who will win this one.

    #25 6 years ago
  26. MushroomStamp

This is a tough one… Personally I LOVE MW2, it’s addicting as hell (the multi player). I think a lot of you people just hate on the game the same way people hate on Microsoft. Because it’s so big and is the biggest money grabber.

I also loved Uncharted 2! but I won’t get the replay value out of that game because to me that game is all about the single player. Also, I am actually on a toss up between U2 and Infamous. I loved them both, however, but are only Single player value for me with little replay.

Ass Creed, I don’t even think should be nominated. It will get strong votes because it’s newer and people always forget the ones earlier in the year.

Batman, GREAT game, but no replay value got 90% of everything on first pass thru.

GOTY – Multi Player – MW2 Hands down : Single Player – U2 edges Infamous (barely)

*side note* Borderlands does NOT belong in RPG category.. WTF

    #26 6 years ago
  27. freedoms_stain

I settled on SC2 for most anticipated, because I have been anticipating it for the longest amount of time – since the mid-late 90′s.

I didn’t give MW2 a vote for anything, not my thing, no interest.

    #27 6 years ago
  28. theevilaires

Umm Mushroom you are misleading people because UC2 has multi play as well. Its not basically all SP. The MP is just as good as MW2 dispite them both being different genres and I happen to like UC2 MP better because skill is actually rewarded unlike MW2 cowardice camper rewarding.

Plus I don’t think your opinion matters at default because you don’t buy your games you pirate them. Keep stealing…you have a lot of class playa.

“I think a lot of you people just hate on the game -(MW2)- the same way people hate on Microsoft. Because it’s so big and is the biggest money grabber.”

LOL you talk as if MW2 is M$ exclusive Xboy.
It’s easy to talk shit when it don’t cost you nothing eh.

    #28 6 years ago
  29. MushroomStamp

Not misleading.. I said for ME it only has single player value.. I don’t care for the MP in it really.

I also purchased MW2 for the PC, just fyi.

    #29 6 years ago
  30. No_PUDding

No such word as addicting MushroomStamp.

    #30 6 years ago
  31. theevilaires

Yea I got that point but it still sounded misleading a little. Anyway I’m sorry you don’t like it…BTW how do you feel about Gears online? Because the two seem quite similar but have different aspects in some cases.

    #31 6 years ago
  32. freedoms_stain

addicting is a word Pud, although I tend to find “addictive” more correct myself.

    #32 6 years ago
  33. theevilaires

I also purchased MW2 for the PC, just fyi.

A well known pirate who uses his PC (or someone else’s) to pirate things bought a legit copy of MW2…..for PC…..(crickets chirping)……is that your final answer :)

    #33 6 years ago
  34. OlderGamer

Tea I think you over read into Mushies post. I agree with a coupl eof points from you both. But I think your just being a tad instigative.

Basicly all he was saying was based on the SP and the MP, for him MW2 wins out. He also said he liked U2. For the most part i agree with what he said. ‘Cept I don’t like MW2. I am more of a BattleField type of guy. But his points are well taken. I am not too sure how you could get him being a xbox fanboy over that post. I don’t know about him stealing games/downloading or hacking them. But I get upset when game companies steal my money with over priced games that end up failing short of the hype. But then again I tend to be jaded and cynicale.

I went and voted. Was neat.

If I had my choice I would have voted for Fat Princess as Game Of The Year. Its maybe the only game this year that I didn’t see coming and far exceded my expectations. And for only 15usd? Toss in 31 offline bots? Yea my GOTY right there. But what do I know, right?

    Peace.

    #34 6 years ago
  35. MushroomStamp

I buy Legit games, as I have stated many time before. The game just has to be really good to earn my money.

You can see for yourself on Steam look me up, MushroomStampN

Me too Mushie and the older I get, the less I like.

    #36 6 years ago
  37. theevilaires

I acknowledge that O.G. I’m just busting his balls.

I voted btw too and the only tough choice for me there was best voice actor between Harley,Joker,Chloe, and Drake….I chose Chloe :D

    #37 6 years ago
  38. MushroomStamp

I don’t mind ball busting.. I got balls of steel :) but you gotta be prepared to be kicked back in your peanuts.

    #38 6 years ago
  39. Dralen

Uncharted 2 got my vote, because it is the best game i’ve played this year. MW2 is great, but it won’t get my vote for game of the year, because they dumbed down the PC version and the singleplayer was way to short for my liking.

    #39 6 years ago
  40. Uncontested

Uncharted 2 SHOULD win.. but the ultra fanboism of MW2 will prevail and take the award.

Hell Assassins Creed so far for me is definatly a strong 2nd place. Hell of a game so far compared to the first one for sure.

    #40 6 years ago
  41. theevilaires

Wait a sec are you telling me they actually choose these things by user votes. I thought that was for fun or something. They Can’t be serious. You mean to tell me UC2 may lose because of some fucking 14 year old xbot brats.

    WTF is Spike thinking.

    #41 6 years ago
  42. OlderGamer

Sad but true Tea. Seems that the system with the largest user base(that goes to vote) gets the nod. I fully expect MW2 to win tho. Too many people from both of the big systems play that one.

    #42 6 years ago
  43. theevilaires

Then this award ceremony means shit. What a fucking waste man. It’s like letting bank robbers get away because they came out of the bank tossing money in the air while fleeing.

This whole game industry is corrupt man. Can’t I just enjoy one thing in life without it being corrupt by jealous inferior ass holes. Is that too much to ask for?

    #43 6 years ago
  44. Dr.Ghettoblaster

A few problems with the voting on Spikes site.

    1. Best PC game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Batman:AA as a voting option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

    2. Best handheld game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Little Big Planet as an option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

    3. Best multiplayer game category DOES NOT INCLUDE Uncharted 2 as a voting option when it clearly qualifies for the running.

    4. Best performance human male category DOES NOT INCLUDE Uncharted 2′s Nolan North (did live motion capture and voice acting) or Batman:AA’s Batman (not sure if these would actually qualify though).

    These are my only complaints.

I also say Batman:AA or U2 will take GOTY (righfully so).

    #44 6 years ago
  45. theevilaires

Whichever out of those two I don’t care who wins. As long as it’s not MW2. This award ceremony doesn’t matter anymore.
I can’t wait until we get a sequel to Batman AA though because it gave the Batman name justice in the world of video games finally.

    #45 6 years ago
  46. Cort

As much as I love North’s work on the Uncharted games, Hammill’s Joker was some damned fine voice acting too. It’s got to be one of those two.

    #46 6 years ago
  47. MushroomStamp

Tea,Why do you have so much hatred for this game? Your just anti-hype kinda guy.

    #47 6 years ago
  48. reask

I made that point TEA 6 posts in.
It is stupid really I mean what chance has UC when the 360 install base is much higher.

Every Xbot and PS3 fanboy on the net will be insuring there consoles game gets the vote.

    #48 6 years ago
  49. Mike

Dragon Age is better than all of them.

    #49 6 years ago
  50. Cort

@Mike, didn’t you just say in another post that you sold your PS3 a while ago? So how do you know Dragon Age is better than, say, Uncharted 2?

    #50 6 years ago
  51. Johnny Cullen

Because obviously Dragon Age is better then Uncharted 2, innit.

    #51 6 years ago
  52. Ashelia Bnargin Dalmasca

    Uncharted 2, please.

Batman is fun while it lasts, but the game is as restrictive as all hell, its story is largely non-existent and utterly terrible, and the combat system, while it looks cool, is terribly one dimensional, dull, and repetitive.

    #52 6 years ago
  53. MushroomStamp

I’ve played both.. I much prefer U2 over DA.. DA is great for story and all.. but U2 is just soooo much more fun.

    #53 6 years ago
  54. zoopdeloop

Let me tell you this…if Batman didn’t have all the ridles to solve and discover, using gadgets to have access to some of their locations it would be a very boring game

    #54 6 years ago
  55. Gekidami

Short to. I beat it in about an hour, start to finish ignoring all of the riddles and FMV’s. Though i also knew what i needed to do which probably gave me an edge.

    #55 6 years ago
  56. Hero of Canton

If it’s not the most deserving winner (Arkham Asylum) then I’d like it to be Uncharted 2. MW2 is the weakest of the five.

    #56 6 years ago
  57. Gekidami

I got AC2 this morning, having played it yet though. I have to say i’m surprised its managed to get nominated based off its reviews. And L4D2 is abit of surprise to.

But yeah, out of the all of them UC2 is more deserving. No doubt MW2 will win though.
