Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days officially announced for 2010

IO Interactive has officially announced that Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

The shooter takes place in the “gritty Shanghai underworld” visually looks like a documentary film, and will be released under the Eidos label.

“Gamers are always looking for something new and that is exactly what they are going to get with Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days,” said Niels Jørgensen, general manager for IO Interactive.

“A special thanks to gamers worldwide for their feedback. They are certainly in for a shock as we, with immense pride, welcome back our two dear, violent and somewhat unfortunate friends.”

The game also includes a “fragile alliance” multiplayer mode, but details on that were not given.

Looks like the boys are back, kids.

Feedback he calls it eh… Well i guess you can learn something with everyone pretty much shitting all over your game.
Still cant believe a sequel was greenlighted though. It must have already been planned whilst the first game was being made.

Im optimistic about this as the first had loads of potential but felt like it was supposed to be a Ps2 game but they decided to port it to next gen consoles. If they make the squad elements like freedom fighters but reskinned it could be amazing.

The promotional campaign for the first Kane & Lynch was great. The room they showed the game off in at E3 had tons of ammunition, firearms, money, and fake drugs in plexiglass benches. I was impressed with the small amount of the game they showed us, and I was looking forward to getting my hands on the game.

Unfortunately, the final game was a near-unplayable mess. I stuck with it for as long as possible, simply because it offered local co-op, something not nearly enough games do.

Whatever possessed these people to make a second game on the heels of the abysmal performance of the first one is beyond me.

I never played the first one, and still think Michael Ironside should be in the film of it just because he resembles the artwork. Oh yeah, and he can act.

Yeah loki I played about 4 missions and went off it I am afraid.
Mind you as hindle says it had good potential.
It was the shooting mechanism that put me off the most it just did not feel right.

the Chinese read “summer days” and has a dog element to it. It’s kinda of a visual pun.

“…and will be released under the Eidos label.”

I heard lately that Eidos has been bought by square!!

and amusingly, “dog days”, while directly translated to Chinese, is a pun for an extreme foul expletive.

Hi, I’m Keir, a community monkey from Eidos.

@ GENE_BC – Just to help clear things up (or make them more confusing) Eidos has indeed been bought by Square Enix, but the games you’d traditionally associate with Eidos will still be released under the Eidos label (so you’ll still have a front of box logo and splash screen on Deus Ex, Thief, K&L, Just Cause, etc) but ultimately published by Square Enix.

@ reask – the first time I spoke to the guys from IO about K&L2 I asked about the control, cover and aiming system. They listened to all the feedback from gamers (there was quite a lot after all) and it has been revamped. It’s really very solid now. We’ll be releasing more details on this in time.

@ Gekidami – Ha. In all seriousness I think a lot was learnt by the devs from the more constructive feedback. I should point out that a lot of people still love the story elements of K&L: Dead Men, along with the characters and lots of the gameplay but a while ago K&L: Dead Men Game Director Jens Peter Kurup did a very honest and candid interview with Games Radar, in case you’re interested you can read it here: http://www.gamesradar.com/f/kane-lynch-how-it-feels-to-be-critically-panned/a-20080908102911734000

@keir
Nice one mate.
The shooting actually made me stop playing the game but I could see the potential within the game.
