left4dead29

Left 4 Dead 2′s nearly upon us, but you’re no mindless zombie, shambling from hyped-game to hyped-up game. No – when someone else tells you what to buy, you’ll only heed their word if there’s a number attached. Otherwise, no deal. So, in your honor, here’s the Internet’s initial horde of Left 4 Dead 2 reviews.

As always, if you find more, let us know and we’ll add them to the list.

I sat down and played the demo of this for an hour on Sunday night, the first time I’ve played it for more than about two minutes. And… it’s alright! Being ‘online-play-averse’ I doubt I’d ever buy it, though.

The demo of L4D2 left me a little cold – thought the first one was great if a little overpriced. The switch to daylight, the forgettable characters and the dull level design of the demo were not good though. Presumably the full game levels are a bit better then? (I did like twatting zombies with a guitar mind).

I think the guitar was my favourite weapon. :-D

Added a few more there. Looks as though it’s going to do very well, innit.

Hey Pat do you have a way to get in touch with Valve as a game journalist? Mainly because the achievements in the crash course dlc do not unlock at all, 3 of them to be exact. I would have thought Valve would have released a patch by now

Hindle – I do, yeah, but I wouldn’t expect a swift response atm as they’re launching. I can ask the question, though.

@Hindle
Yeah tell me about it, god knows how many verses games on crash course i’ll have to win to get the achievement for winning only 1!

But anyways i’m looking forward to L4D2 but will probably get it for Christmas as i need a bit of a L4D break for now

DrDamn, it’s really good, but its pretty much vital that you have friends on Steam/XBL to play it with. It’s all about the brilliant interaction between players, saving each other and fucking each other over to gain a bit more ground. Fighting over healthpacks, arguing about who gets which weapon, berating people for failing to stick to the plan etc. My best moment was reaching the boat (end of the level) in the first game and turning around to realise my real-life brother had taken a tumble and was being pummeled by zombies. “JUST LEAVE ME MAN!” He screamed down his mic “GO, GO!”. “Cover me” I said to my two friends, and I fought my way back through the horde to help him to his feet. We both ran for the dock, him hobbling all the way, beset from zombies on all sides. Our two friends were screaming at us to run because supposedly right behind us was the biggest horde of zombies either of them had ever seen in the game to date. We reached the boat with less than 5 health each, and I turned around to see a huge giant swarm of zombies and a tank bearing down on us. With milliseconds to spare the boat sped off and we all cheered, completely exhausted and excited from it all.

The thing is, if you play with the right kind of people, this sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME. :)

Yea I know I must of jumped on like a 100 survivors at 25 points worth of damage yet got nothing same with slippery pull. Hopefully when Pat messages them they will do something about it.

@Morrius
I really enjoyed the first game – it was great fun just split screen and a couple of AI players. I just didn’t get the L4D feel from the demo. I think a lot was down the what I hope was just poor level choice.
