17 hours though? I’d heard the game was very short.

25 hours is my record, Rome: Total War. I just felt like sleeping after that, though.

12 hours is my record, but this was way back in 03 I think when I was 12 and played an NHL game I rented.

14 hours on Chrono Cross eventually passed out while playing the game, woke up and my neck hurt like hell and I was still in battle. Good times.

anyway, the longest I’ve played a game without a rest wasn’t more than 5-6 hours I think. well, maybe 8 at best.

I have to admit that I played from 5pm till noon the next day on release day, just cause I was enjoying it. I noticed it was late when the sun was coming up but I must have gotten another wind… anyway I did not turn out like this kid, use discretion when playing though. You could be the poor sap who kills this kid that one last time that makes him break. But honestly so many little kids are playing this game. I asked the kid how old he was and he said 11. I believe him because his voice sounded like his balls haven;t dropped yet. The vid above is one reason games should be restricted to an appropriate audience.

On some of the lans I’ve been too me and my mates ended up playing CS for 18 hours or so on the first day. First of 5 days mind. But with Icewind Dale I think I did 3 14 hour days in a row.

Mental Fortitude +5 in my case I think.

It’s fine very occasionally to play a game all day and night… Just not fine to react like this.

I have to say, when he pulled up the ps3 version there was no surprised in my heart.

I just never could play for so long, I guess it’s because I play a game for as long as it’s exactly ‘fun’.. I mean, I could never get into stuff like WoW, or MMOs in general. games like that are more like some kind of an uh, hobby.

I am with Hunam completely. The correlation between PS3 owners and this behaviour is pretty much a constant.

Everybody seems to have skipped over the fact that MW2 is an 18 rated game and that this kid is far from 18, be that phyiscally or mentally. Children are not equiped to deal with too many mental pressures or strains. This child is a prime example of why we have a rating system and what happens when that rating system is ignored just to satisfy the demand he has put on his parents to buy him the latest games. Rules are there for adults, parents are supposed to be there for children. Where are the parents?

Really come on only 17 hours, I hope this guy is not on my friends list if this vid really legit. I have played well over 17 hours straight on games like FF7, Beyond the Beyond, Rogue Galaxy, Lunar, Grandia, Suikoden, Disgaea and more. My buddy even played Counterstrike Source so long his nose started bleeding and he still kept playing I think his nose started bleeding at around 48 hours!

Not one of my friends hadn’t played GTA3 when they were 12 or 13. And then each successive GTA, while underage.

I knew kids, who had played Manhunt when it came out, my age.

While it’s hypocritical of me to do my own backseat psycho-analysis and protest yours, it’s safe to say mine is way more general. And even then, I am comfortable saying mine is very likely not an accurate summation of the cause of his problems.

That was really really fucked up. When he started punching the wall my jaw almost fell off. Poor kid needs to sleep, I wouldn’t be surprised if the crazy van comes round to his house sooner or later.

I assume you mean with bouts of sleep… because I’m pretty certain after 64 hours of gaming without sleep you’d do some permanent damage to yourself.

I did about 72 hours on and off with the flu, in bed, off work playing TLoZ Wind Waker when it came out. It was a strange experience. I’m not sure if the game made my flu better or worse. It sent me a little bit mad I’d say

I am assuming the poor lad is struggling with Spec Ops? He doesn’t explain why the game sucks. Perhaps he should consider using a walkthrough. After 17 hours (the game is quite short) he could have done with a couple of hints or so.
