Time lists Project Natal as one of the 50 best inventions of 2009

natal2b1

Time Magazine has listed the top 50 best inventions of 2009, and Project Natal is one of ‘em.

The list includes the “best new gadgets and breakthrough ideas of the year”, and calls Natal “cool”

A $10 million dollar lightbulb is also on the list, and so is teleportation.

Go see for yourself.

“it does this by using several cameras…” By several I guess they mean 2.

I must have missed someone inventing teleportation. Can I trade my car in against one?

Now all we need is some Ferengi.

I think they’re getting ahead of themselves.

Even as an idea alone it’s not that great imo without going in to the fact that it looks laggy as fuck in every demonstration I’ve seen of it thus far.

MS = Ferengi, no doubt, they love them Micro Transactions.

@freedoms_stain: It’s just a trick of the eyes. If you look at Digital Foundry’s write up on it you’ll see that it’s about equivalent to the lag you’d get on any 30fps game. Basically somewhere between the lag you’d see on Halo 3 and the lag you get on Killzone 2…

…it’s just we’re not used to seeing someone do something and then see a silhouette of them do it ~100 milliseconds later on a screen. Tis not natural, which is why our brains can pick it up so easily.

@OlderGamer: Haha, yeah, no doubt.

Does anyone else think why the hell the eye toy was never put on here seriously Natal is just an upgrade from the original eye toy and no one knows yet if Natal is any better than the new Playstation Eye!

EyeToy was not invented in 2009.

@G1GAHURTZ I didn’t mean as it was released this year I’m just talking about how highly there hyping Natal like it invented no hand video gaming when we all know it didn’t, and we all know MS is gonna market Natal to be just that. Remember the Eye Toy made an impact for a little bit but then it just got boring and the same will go for Natal!

Let’s just hope they support it a little better than all the other crap peripherals that come with 360
Singstar rippoff Mics (1 game or is it 2 now)
Buzz rippoff controllers (umm…)
Eyetoy rippoff vision cam (UNO and Rainbow 6)
and the all time classic HDVD (nuff said)

let’s face it… Not a good track record so far… Trust me, if this thing doesn’t sell truck loads MS will drop it faster than you can say XBOX.

Yet NATAL will be boring with casual games.. while PS3 motion controllers will have more hardcore games.
