Scottish hotel bans videogames for Christmas

humbug

Now Modern Warfare 2′s out of the way, we’re back to the real deal: some hotel in Scotland’s decided games aren’t conducive to promoting “traditional family values” and has banned them over the Christmas period.

Managing director Stephen Leckie, said children should not be “glued” to game consoles during the holiday,

“As a father-of-four, I’m well aware of the role that computer games play in youngsters’ lives and they undoubtedly have a place,” he said.

“However with Christmas holidays being the ideal opportunity to spend quality time with our families, we’re asking our younger guests to set their consoles and games aside for just a few days of the year and, instead, sample some new activities which they may never have tried before.”

Sounds positively sinister. More on the BBC, should you be bored enough.

Do people take their consoles with them on holidays?

“Quality time with families” is the reason God invented video games!

Family? Oh, wait you mean the awkward people we’re related to? No thanks.

Christ have you seen the place? It’s enormous. One of those hotels where you see drunken Scots stumbling around the corridors at 2 in the morning looking for their rooms.
Doesn’t sound like much of a family Christmas to me.

Hang on, no, it sounds exactly like a normal family Christmas.

Must be a UK thing, people still call them “computer games”.

This guy’s probably just stopped calling them, “games for the television.”

And you are going to be checking this how exactly? Monitoring what people do in their hotel rooms? Seems slightly illegal to me.

Hey, if that backwards motherfucker wants to ban games for his own family, it his choice but he needs to keep his nose out of other people’s rights to run their family their own way.
