Square: US and Euro versions of FFXIII in “last stages of development”

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has told GI.biz that preparations for the Final Fantasy XIII launch were “going very steadily” and the US and European versions are in the final stages of development.
“We’ve completed the master of the Japanese version, and for the US and European versions we’re just adding the final touches,” he said. “The last stage of development has gone very smoothly this time.
“It took us a tremendous amount of time to develop the software for this generation, so that’s a lesson for the creators.”
Start panting now, folks.

I hope there is a decent PS3v360 comparison out before the game ships, this is one of those games that might be amazing on the PS3 and wankery on the 360.

if nothing else it’ll give us an idea on the real world effect of blu-ray. Which i personally suspect that other then a bit of installation time, will be completely moot.

Srsly?
It still feels (in my mind at least) like this game is another year away.
Versus is still my pick of the two though, so maybe that’s why.
Practically no news about that.

Does that mean that there is a possibility of a worldwide release?

@7 Kitase said he wanted Europe and US to get the game at the same time. We ofcourse won’t be getting it the same time as Japan being as the game comes out next month for them.

I’m currently in FFXIII ‘don’t really care’ mode. I did manage to raise excitement a few months back, but then I played Infinite Undiscovery and it put me off again.

Early 1st quarter there is a lot of traffic of really interesting game releases.
Wada said that they are just adding the final touches for US and EU.So how long can that take?Maybe a month is more than enough.
A few weeks back they said that FFXIII would be released at the end of the fiscal year(which is April-March)that’s not the case after the last statement.Maybe they said that a few weeks back to surprise us now with a Christmas release or 1st quarter.
I do have a feeling though that in their Friday’s huge announcement they will pull out a really huge surprise.
Just like they did in E3 08 with the announcement of the 360 version.
They can release it worldwide, technicaly the game for US and EU is ready. They did a worldwide release with The Last Remnant so why not FFXIII?

Very simple Last Remnant was utter crap took less time to make and put out. This game is there end all be all for Westerners… They can’t pull it off Square might as well stay in Japan with their games, they know this especially looking at the sales for all their previous RPGs for this gen.

what kind of logic is this?Last Remnant looked like crap that’s why they released it worldwide.Nah
SE can pull it off.Don’t forget they have expanded(Eidos) even if it has nothing to do directly with FFXIII
