Rumor has it that the 1500 jobs and the dozen or so in-development games that were cut at EA affected studios Pandemic, Maxis and almost the entire Command & Conquer team.

According to a source close to Kotaku, the team working on Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight was notified today that once the game ships some time in 2010, almost the entire team is to hit the road.

While this is not a surprising move by the studio, as loads like it have a tendency to do that once a game ships, the cutbacks also landed blows to EA Maxis, Rupture Studios and Pandemic with remaining workers being relocated to EA Los Angeles and Redwood.

Rumors also state that EA has laid-off staff at Black Box, Mythic Entertainment and Tiburon.

We’ll sent out a mail and see if anyone gets back with us.

Not too surprising they are getting the boot with the franchise being put to rest with C&C4.

The C&C team are based in EA LA which has a spotty reputation known for mismanagement and a drug problem from some comments dropped a while back (it was on the last Medal of Honor game) on other industry sites.

Wouldn’t be shock if they are trying to clear some of that out and bring in other employees to re-staff EA LA.

When I was working at EA, EA LA were always in hot water over the quality of their work. I’m surprised its taken this long to effectively, close them down.

Some of these cuts are disheartening. C&C4 might get a big quality hit now as I’d wager morale has just been slaughtered.

Mythic getting cuts again is also worrying as Warhammer Online is falling apart of the seams and really does need to hit full development again to be perfectly fucking honest.

After Spore coming out and being pretty much shit, even with Will Wright jumping ship (sort of) afterwards pretty much means that studio is going to be heavily hit I’d imagine.

Pandemic is also another one I don’t see lasting too much longer as they were only bought as they were part of the same company as Bioware and have a less than stellar reputation in both quality and sales.

Dont count on it. As of now fans of the series (including myself) hate C&C4 and the direction its taken. I’m betting it’ll bomb pretty hard.

Gekidami that is what you get for trying and force an rts on a console or multiplat.

pc gamers have been saying it for along time now rts and certen genres don’t work well on consoles.

there is alot of uneducated game devs in this industry and alot of lies.

all that pc gaming trash talk also has a very big price.

them big companies such as microsoft and sony is to be blamed for this mess
