EA plans to “revitalize” Medal of Honor, other “core IP”

During today’s EA Q2 conference call, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau confirmed that, while Activision’s Call of Duty franchise may have won a few battles here and there, it certainly hasn’t won the war of the war shooters. Medal of Honor, as it turns out, is gearing up for a comeback.
“In the months ahead, you’ll hear more about our plans to revitalize core IP, including the Medal of Honor franchise,” said Gibeau.
We first caught wind of this project when John Riccitiello mentioned it during EA’s Q1 call a few months ago.
The Medal of Honor franchise purple-hearted out of active duty after 2007′s triple-shot volley of Medal of Honor: Airborne, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, and Medal of Honor: Vanguard landed with three resounding “thuds.”
Thanks, Joystiq.

I only played the Airborne demo. If it wasn’t for the sluggish character motion/actions I would of actually given it a try. Then I heard dedicated servers weren’t used so I avoided it altogether – even though EA eventually made the server software available in a later patch, it was too little too late.
I certainly hope that EA can revive this franchise. Medal of Honor Allied Assault was my first foray into online multiplayer gaming.
My only request is that EA builds the multiplayer around dedicated servers. Not just for PC but for consoles as well. This could dramatically improve the multiplayer experience.

All info released thus far has MOH set in the Afghanistan War. A representation of the real-life Operation Anaconda.
